Job description

Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression, processing, and heavy oil facilities. By integrating comprehensive engineering services and first-in-class modular fabrication capacity with complete construction services, Propak designs and builds industry-leading hydrocarbon processing facilities for installation around the world.

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer for our Airdrie, AB office. This position interfaces with the respective drafting coordinator or technical lead as well as the respective project engineer and provides progress updates to the respective drafting manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides design services by gathering information, making studies, computing calculations, and preparing detailed design and deliverables in accordance with project requirements.
  • Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
  • Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals
  • Coordinates design criteria with engineering providing layout skid packages including MCC building, cable tray and lighting layouts, and motor schematic drawings
  • Investigates pertinent design factors, such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements
  • Designs layouts and drawings keeping in mind clarity, completeness, conformity to codes, regulations, and standards, procedures, specifications, critical interface compatibility, producibility aspects, and dimensional accuracy of calculations
  • Conforms to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and economy of fabrication
  • Coordinates assigned engineering and design work with other project groups
  • Participates in project planning and execution, man-hour estimation, and schedule development

Qualifications:

  • A Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Engineering Design Drafting Technology (EDDT)
  • ASET membership is an asset
  • 2-3 years of directly related experience in electrical design of oil and gas processing facilities in the Canadian industry
  • Experience with an EPC work environment
  • Fabrication shop designing experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2010 and higher
  • 1-2 years’ experience with 3D Cadworx
  • 2+ years’ experience with 2D Acad
  • Experience with AutoDesk programs including AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Familiarity with CEC, industry regulations, and standards
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
