Job description

The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for creating, developing, and designing blueprints for containers and parts, etc. prior to production, consulting with the customer, when appropriate, to ensure that the plans fit the customer’s needs. This individual is expected to put forth the amount of time and effort necessary to accomplish and complete the whole job, maintaining the highest level of integrity, leading by example in all areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Create blueprints using Solid Works program for existing & new products
  • Work with management to make sure parts and products can be produced on our equipment efficiently
  • Communicate with customers on special requests and custom containers to ensure drawings match their expectations prior to production
  • Explain and answer questions regarding job specifications and blueprints in weekly production meetings
  • Be involved and present in the shop during the production process of new products or difficult custom jobs to assure that the parts are being assembled correctly
  • Manage and oversee CNC programing, nesting plans for the plasma table
  • Any other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or completed coursework in drafting or engineering
  • Knowledge and experience using Solid Works drafting software
  • Experience/ability to understand concepts and ideas for custom builds
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic business principles and practices
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating outstanding organization, attention to detail, and planning abilities
  • Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and QuickBooks
