Job Summary:
Our Drafter Intern assists in the preparation of detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to customer input and/or specifications by an architect.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Job Functions:
  • Transform initial rough product designs into working documents using computer-aided design (AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Review and approve shop drawings, selection of colors, fixtures, and finishes for function and aesthetics
  • Conducts on-site job reviews of existing conditions before preliminary design work
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service
  • Outlines components such as labor, materials, and equipment
  • Assist sales by reviewing product options against project specifications
  • Predict vendor product types/quantities using architectural drawings and specifications
  • Prepare submittal documents in accordance with the project architectural drawings and specifications
  • Work with the project manager to format submittals to best accommodate project delivery and other requirements
  • Review vendor drawings for production and work with the project manager and vendor representative to correct any issues during their order process
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • To successfully perform this job, the employee should possess a working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other design software.
  • The employee must have the ability to foster positive teamwork relationships with fellow employees; learn the specifications and technical details of the products we distribute as well as those of our competition.
  • Use professionalism and ethical judgment in all areas of the position.
  • The employee must be computer-literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products. Such qualifications would normally be found in an individual enrolled in a design program from an accredited college or university.
