Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: The job duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the level at which the incumbent is hired. Assists in directing and performing investigations and environmental and engineering analyses as required for the preparation of environmental documents. Prepares environmental documentation and reviews project designs and plans to determine environmental class of action and potential environmental impacts.

Develops recommendations for engineering/environmental design changes to minimize the impact of DOTD projects on the environment and public. Coordinates environmental work within the Department and with other local, state, and federal planning groups, resource agencies, and permitting agencies. Acts as advisor or consultant to other engineering professionals in the Department relative to environmental laws, rules, regulations, and technical work.

Reviews and recommends for approval proposals, studies, and invoices prepared by consulting firms for factual accuracy and completeness. Provides technical expertise to engineering technicians to resolve environmental issues related to highway projects. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); by temporary job appointment; or by detail to special duty.
