Job description
The role of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Tech is to provide DME services to the patients of Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee.
Position Requirements- High School diploma or equivalent, required. Clinical background or Athletic Training education preferred. Must be versed in anatomy. Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapy Techs, Personal Trainers, and all allied health professionals encouraged to apply.
- At least one year of experience in a medical setting with some prior Durable Medical Equipment or similar experience is preferred.
- This position requires a fundamental knowledge of technical work with orthopedic devices and bracing related activities. Clinical work is performed under the general supervision of a licensed patient care professional. Competent in the use of standard medical office equipment and medical supplies including computers with appropriate medical software, facsimile machines, copying machines and telephones.
- Orthopedic medical practice office.
- Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing, and the ability to accurately discern color as necessary to perform job functions. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
- Fit patients for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as directed by Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
- Provide patient education regarding use of the appropriate DME.
- Provide troubleshooting services to patients who have questions regarding their prescribed DME products.
- Responsible for entering charges for DME that is dispensed into the Electronic Medical Records system.

- Insure that all necessary documentation and authorization is obtained as it relates to payer requirements.

- Maintains work area and personal appearance in a way that reflects professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness and safety.
- Duties also included any other requests from the DME Coordintors, CEO, ClinicManager or Coordinator, Physicians, Clinical staff and patients that included problem solving, critical thinking, and ensuring the clients are always satisfied.
