About Your Role
The Zone Vice President, Store Operations (ZVP) serves as the senior field leader for an assigned geographic zone and is responsible for driving sales, profitability, operational excellence, customer experience, associate engagement, and talent development across all stores within the zone. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, Chief Retail Officer, the ZVP is a key member of the Retail Leadership Team and provides strategic leadership to Regional Directors while ensuring consistent execution of company initiatives and business priorities.
This executive leader is accountable for delivering sustainable business results through operational excellence, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness. The ZVP serves as the voice of the field, partnering closely with Store Support Center leaders to influence strategy, drive execution, and ensure an exceptional experience for both customers and associates. Through a relentless focus on performance, culture, and accountability, the ZVP plays a critical role in advancing Dollar Tree's growth strategy and strengthening the company's presence in the communities it serves.
Your day-to-day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategic Business Leadership
  • Lead all aspects of zone performance, including sales, profitability, customer experience, shrink, and operational execution.
  • Develop and execute business strategies that drive sustainable top-line sales growth, profitability, and market share.
  • Analyze business trends, operational metrics, and financial performance to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure achievement of annual operating plans, budgets, and key performance indicators.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and performance excellence throughout the zone.
  • Leverage data, insights, and field feedback to continuously improve business performance and operational effectiveness.
Field Leadership & Talent Development
  • Directly lead, coach, and develop Regional Directors to maximize business performance and leadership effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain a strong leadership pipeline through succession planning, talent assessment, and development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Human Resources to drive talent acquisition, retention, associate engagement, and leadership development strategies.
  • Create an environment that supports growth, collaboration, and high performance at all levels of the organization.
  • Champion Dollar Tree's culture and values by fostering high levels of associate engagement, recognition, and leadership visibility throughout the zone.
  • Lead a culture of service by championing associate engagement, community involvement, and Kindness Crew initiatives throughout the zone, ensuring Dollar Tree remains a valued partner in the communities it serves while fostering pride, purpose, and connection among associates.
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure consistent execution of all operational programs, merchandising initiatives, promotional events, and company standards throughout the zone.
  • Drive operational discipline and execution consistency across all markets.
  • Lead implementation of company initiatives and strategic priorities to improve store performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and execute opportunities that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure stores consistently meet company standards for presentation, execution, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Drive operational readiness and successful execution for new store openings, relocations, remodels, conversions, and other strategic initiatives.
Asset Protection, Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and operational integrity throughout the zone.
  • Drive shrink reduction strategies and ensure strong inventory controls are in place across all stores.
  • Partner with Asset Protection leaders to identify trends, mitigate risk, and improve operational compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and compliance while maintaining focus on operational excellence.
Enterprise Leadership & Partnership
  • Serve as the senior field representative for the zone and provide strategic insights that influence enterprise decision-making.
  • Partner closely with the Executive Vice President, Chief Retail Officer and Store Support Center leadership to execute company priorities and business objectives.
  • Act as a key conduit between the field and corporate teams, ensuring alignment, communication, and execution across the organization.
  • Champion organizational change initiatives and ensure successful adoption throughout the field organization.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Finance, Asset Protection, Real Estate, and Store Operations leaders to drive enterprise success.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Dollar Tree within the communities served throughout the zone, strengthening relationships with local organizations and supporting initiatives that positively impact customers, associates, and neighborhoods.
Your Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 15+ years of progressive retail leadership experience with significant multi-unit operational responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale retail operations across multiple markets and geographic regions.
  • Proven ability to drive sales growth, profitability, operational excellence, and talent development.
  • Extensive experience leading leaders and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing large-scale P&L responsibility.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned zone.
