A Quality Control Technician will be responsible for monitoring the overall plant and product quality in accordance with the Quality Control Systems in place throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
Primary Accountabilities:
  • Responsible to comply with all Quality and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption.
  • Must have an understanding of the Puree & Shelf Stable Plant layout and understand equipment location and function.
  • Must be responsible for meeting product specifications, such as color grades, and perform proper testing of those products within the lab.
  • Must have an understanding of the Tub and Cup line function and all products ran through it.
  • Must be able to perform appropriate Tub and Cup line testing and record results pertaining to specifications (weight control charts, drain weights, etc.)
  • Required to understand and perform pre-operational procedures in all of the plants.
  • Comply with DATW Technical Manual and incoming/finished product specifications to ensure that the correct procedure and/or specification are used in manufacturing DATW product and its customers.
  • Verify Metal Detector testing and place failing product on hold in accordance with DATW hold procedure.
  • Properly monitor all Chlorine and Iodine sanitation systems
  • Perform Titratable Acidity (TA) on incoming and finished products.
  • Determine pH of all appropriate products.
  • Collect samples of product and grade for defects, size, color and character weight, etc.
  • Pull product samples for microbiological analysis and customers as stated in the Product Specification Sheets.
  • Perform visual inspections for Foreign Material (pits, stickers, stems, etc.).
  • Complete and monitor appropriate Quality Control Records.
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Follow and enforce General Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in the laboratory and out on the production floor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Department Manager

Qualifications
Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:
  • Experience as a Bracket III QC technician preferred.
  • Be able to work independently inside and outside the laboratory.
  • Basic computer skills a plus.

Education & Certification:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass job specific Physical Ability Test (PAT)
  • Temperatures range from 40ยฐ to 50ยฐ degree Fahrenheit
  • Noise produced by manufacturing machinery up to 92 decibels
  • Must be able to climb stairs up to 20ft daily
  • Must be able to do repetitive movements of, reaching forward up to 24", pushing & pulling an average weight of 5-10 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete and/or metal grating
  • Requires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting and other physical movements to perform job
  • Flexibility to work different shifts and days when required
Work Environment:
  • Industrial plant environment with related noise and temperature.
