Join Our Team as an Animal Care Technician!

Do you have a passion for animals and a desire to make a real difference in their lives? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Animal Care Technician to join our team and help provide exceptional care for animals in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). If you're committed to animal welfare and ready to take on a rewarding role, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:
As an Animal Care Technician, your role will involve a variety of duties that directly impact the health and well-being of the animals in your care. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Compassionate Animal Care: Provide love, care, and attention to all animals, ensuring they are treated with the respect they deserve.
  • Feeding and Care: Prepare and serve meals, conduct feeding trials, and ensure animals always have access to fresh water.
  • Sanitation & Safety: Keep animal enclosures clean and odor-free, while maintaining the highest safety standards.
  • Animal Enrichment: Help socialize, exercise, and provide olfactory/natural enrichment for dogs and cats.
  • Health Monitoring: Observe and report animal behaviors, health conditions, and report any concerns to the appropriate team members.
  • Daily Documentation & Reports: Accurately record animal information, complete necessary visual management charts, and contribute to daily huddles.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Assist with animal introductions, manage supplies, and help with the acquisition of new animals as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of animal care experience-can include professional, volunteer, farm, or personal business experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and restraining animals safely
  • Experience working with large groups of animals is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to safely follow safety protocols and established safety standards
  • Passion for working with animals and socializing them in a positive, off-leash environment
  • Capability to assess animal health and provide proper care
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform other physical tasks as needed
