Job description

Summary

Chenega & NASA are seeking a Security Police Officer (SPO) to protect NASA facilities and personnel in Cleveland, OH. This armed law enforcement role offers federal arrest authority, emergency response responsibilities, patrol operations, access control duties, and the opportunity to support critical NASA missions in a highly professional security environment.

ALL positions begin as Part-Time with the option to bid on a full-time position when one becomes available.


Responsibilities
  • Protect NASA personnel, facilities, equipment, and property through armed security operations, patrols, inspections, and enforcement activities.
  • Control site access, conduct traffic control functions, perform vehicle and facility inspections, and monitor visitors and contractors.
  • Respond to emergencies, security incidents, and law enforcement situations, including exercising force when authorized and necessary.
  • Enforce applicable federal laws, NASA regulations, post orders, and company policies while maintaining safety and security standards.
  • Communicate effectively with NASA personnel, government officials, the public, and fellow officers through written reports, radio, telephone, and in-person interactions.
  • Maintain readiness by reporting in proper uniform, carrying assigned equipment, participating in required training, and remaining available during declared emergencies or disaster events. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED and must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and be eligible to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Must successfully pass all required background investigations, drug and alcohol screenings, physical agility testing (IPAT), and psychological evaluations.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and maintain firearms qualification standards.
  • Must have no disqualifying criminal history or illegal drug use and be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully meet all NASA certifications required for employment
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) to three (3) years of military, military police, law enforcement, or security experience.
  • Honorably discharged military service (if applicable).
  • NBTS certification prior to standing an armed post.
  • ICS-100 and ICS-200 certifications.
