Systems Administration Specialist I

Clearance: U.S. Citizen with Secret clearance (minimum)

Location: Bluegrass Station, Lexington, KY (primary); travel to Ft Walton Beach, FL and Crestview, FL may be required

Position Summary:

The Systems Administration Specialist I provides Tier 1 support for specific PEO SOFSA applications hosted on the SOFSANet. This role monitors and maintains infrastructure assets and servers, performs system backups, conducts server builds, and troubleshoots hardware and software issues to ensure continuous availability of enterprise IT services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Tier 1 support for specific PEO SOFSA applications
  • Monitor and control numerous infrastructure assets and servers
  • Study program operating instructions to determine equipment setup and operations
  • Continuously observe the operation of assigned applications, hardware, and storage devices to monitor system operation and determine points of hardware or software failure
  • Manipulate systems in accordance with standard procedures to continue operations when individual units malfunction
  • Confer with software systems engineering or applications programming personnel when errors require changes to instructions or sequences of operations
  • Maintain operating records such as machine performance and production reports
  • Install operating system software, patches, and upgrades for specific applications
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues
  • Configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor operating system software and hardware
  • Perform system backups and recovery
  • Conduct server builds

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of IT Systems Administration experience
  • In-depth technical knowledge of the Government's systems' hardware and software
  • Background in the specific types of hardware and software systems used by the Government

Certification Requirements

  • Appropriate certificate for system(s) being administered
  • DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for System Administrator (Work Role 451) Basic Qualification Level

Travel

  • Minimal; primarily on-site at Lexington, KY
