Job description

Own the Quality System that Powers Precision Manufacturing

Step into Elemet Manufacturing as the leader who stewards our Quality Management System (QMS) and elevates product and process compliance across our Aitkin, MN site. You’ll guide a team of technicians and inspectors, shape quality strategy, and ensure that every part shipped reflects our commitment to ISO 9001 and our customers’ toughest specifications.

A day in the life

Your morning might begin on the production floor verifying in-process inspection sequences are being recorded to the Quality Control Plan, and checking that SPC data trends remain in control. By midday, you’re reviewing supplier submissions—first articles, certificates of conformance, chemical and physical test reports—and chairing an MRB to disposition nonconforming material documented through DMR/RMA workflows. You’ll close the day preparing for an internal audit cycle, updating control plans and PFMEAs, and coaching the team on a CAR just progressed through the review board.

What you’ll lead
  • Provide direction, coaching, and accountability for the Quality Assurance team; set objectives and measure results.
  • Continuously evolve and maintain the QMS; drive product/process compliance to ISO 9001 and customer/regulatory requirements.
  • Create quality strategies, plans, and metrics aligned to business KPIs; report performance and drive action.
  • Plan and run internal and external audit programs; support audits across other Elemet business units.
  • Own supplier quality: certificates of conformance, sampling inspections, chemical/physical test reports, first article inspections, process approvals, inspection plans, material approvals, test/inspection reports, SPC, Corrective Action Requests (CAR), and the approved supplier list.
  • Oversee inspection and testing of tools and equipment; manage metrology and calibration with traceability.
  • Ensure inspection/testing sequences are built into quality planning and that in-process/final inspection and SPC data are properly captured per the Quality Control Plan.
  • Establish controls for parts, products, and materials to meet standards and customer/supplier specs; proactively manage quality risks.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing; manage CAR effectiveness and timely closure via CAR review boards.
  • Administer RMA and DMR processes; chair MRB across the business unit.
  • Manage the Quality Department budget to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field (quality emphasis preferred).
  • 10+ years in quality management or closely related roles.
  • Hands-on experience leading ISO 9001 audits and maintaining certification.
Skills and competencies
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) plus familiarity with computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) systems and data retrieval.
  • Formal training in root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Why) and ISO principles.
  • Deep metrology expertise; proven ownership of calibration systems.
  • Hands-on CMM background, ideally with FARO systems.
  • PFMEA development and control planning capability.
  • Project leadership with a track record of measurable process and quality improvements.
  • SPC/TQM methods, monitoring and control techniques, defect/data analysis, variance reduction, capability analysis, and GD&T.
You should be proficient in
  • GD&T

  • Quality Control Experience
  • ISO 9001 Certification Experience
