We are SLR Consulting (Americas), a 1500+ team of advisory, environmental, engineering, and regulatory professionals across Canada, the United States, and LATAM. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. As our new Documentation Specialist, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

What you'll be doing:

In this role, you'll partner with team members throughout all levels of the company, as part of the Americas shared services team. You'll support SLR's project documentation needs across all our offices and help drive the consistency and quality of SLR deliverables. We'll trust you to manage critical, confidential information as you work with legal and financial documents.

You'll collaborate with our technical staff to prepare and deliver technical reports and other documentation for various projects across the organization, and will review, proofread, format, and assemble various technical documents into readable, concise, and professionally formatted documents.

Success in this role will require strong proofreading and writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You'll also need to be highly collaborative in your work and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, across various provinces, countries, and time zones. This role has flexible work options.

Your biggest assets will be your excellent verbal and written communication skills, a proactive attitude towards new challenges, strong computer skills, and your ability to build strong relationships.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Proofread technical documentation for correct grammar, consistency in "voice," and to match house style.
  • Format large, complex documents using MS Word and Excel, and publish complete reports using Adobe Acrobat, including inserting graphics and tables into a final .pdf document.
  • Assist in proposal preparation, including finalizing, printing, and collating documents for client submission under tight deadlines.
  • Prepare/update report templates.
  • Support project delivery efforts through documentation set-up, style guide compliance, document formatting, and electronic compilation.
  • Assisting Project Managers in the execution of day-to-day project tasks including report compilation, information/data management, client liaison, and ensuring compliance with SLR policies and procedures.
  • E-publishing documents, reports, and proposals.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as document formatter and proofreader within STEM fields. Some legal document experience also an asset.
  • Superior written communication skills - a sample of your previous proofreading work and/or skill testing may be required.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word (template creation, master documents), Excel (formulas, tables, formatting), SharePoint (filemanagement, collaborative working, version control), PowerPoint (slidemasters, multimedia).
  • Experience working in the environmental services industry is an asset.
  • Proven experience in working independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to multi- task and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
