Job description

Training Documentation Internship
Department: Employee Development / Human Resources
Reports To: Employee Development Manager
Schedule: June 2026 through August 2026, Monday through Friday 40 hours per week
Location: Boring, Oregon
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented intern to join our Food Manufacturing team for the summer. In this role, you will play a critical part in building and improving our operational knowledge base - creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, and training materials used daily on the production floor. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a lasting impact while developing real-world experience in technical writing, instructional design, and operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop clear, accurate, and user-friendly Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food manufacturing processes
  • Design job aids, quick-reference guides, and visual work instructions for production floor staff
  • Create engaging training materials including presentations, handouts, and e-learning content
  • Collaborate with department leads, supervisors, and frontline employees to gather process information
  • Review and revise existing documentation for accuracy, clarity, and compliance
  • Organize and maintain the documentation library, ensuring version control and easy accessibility
  • Support onboarding and training sessions by preparing and presenting materials
  • Assist in translating materials into Spanish to support our bilingual workforce (preferred)
  • Perform other documentation and administrative tasks as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program (Business, Communications, Technical Writing, Human Resources, Operations Management, or related field preferred)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written communication and technical writing skills
  • Outgoing, approachable, and comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) - strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, food production, or industrial environment
  • Familiarity with SOP development, instructional design, or training material creation
  • Experience with document management systems or Learning Management Systems (LMS)

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN
  • Hands-on experience creating professional-grade documentation used in a real manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to food safety regulations, GMP standards, and operational best practices
  • Mentorship from experienced operations and HR professionals
  • Portfolio-worthy deliverables: SOPs, training decks, and job aids you built from scratch
  • Opportunity to contribute meaningfully from day one - your work will be used immediately

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based primarily in an office setting within our food manufacturing facility. Occasional visits to the production floor will be required to observe processes and gather information for documentation. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided for floor visits. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
HOW TO APPLY
Interested candidates should submit a resume and a brief cover letter describing their interest in the position and any relevant experience with writing, documentation, or training materials. Applications that include a writing sample or work portfolio will receive priority consideration.
Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
