Old Dominion Freight Line is currently recruiting for an Operations Clerk to join the OD family Culture. This clerk will successfully provide administrative assistance to the operations department including working with drivers to assign routes and process paperwork, answering telephones to set appointments, trace shipments or route to the appropriate person.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer telephones and emails in a prompt and courteous manner to provide customer service including setting appointments and tracing shipments

  • Prepare and maintain daily paperwork to move freight including DOT files to ensure confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness

  • Prepare a variety of documents and reports using AS400 and SAP

  • Scan documents such as Bill of Ladings and Delivery Receipts into our system

  • Close city pickups to the dock and generate manifests for the dockworkers

  • Assist supervisors with assigning drivers to routes and processing drivers' paperwork

  • Prepare a variety of transportation related documents including dock delivery/drop offs, driver returns, and damage/overage documents

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or equivalent preferred.

  • 3 year of office and/or operations experience, preferably in the transportation industry

  • Experience in using handheld computers/scanners preferred

  • Experience with AS400 and SAP preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Outlook, Word and Excel

Afternoon
