Delaware's Attorney General, the State's chief law enforcement officer, has a broad responsibility to combat crime, uphold civil rights, safeguard families, fight fraud, and protect consumers in the First State.\r\n\r\n\r\nIn meeting this mission, Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams of talented lawyers and staff in the Criminal, Civil, Family, Fraud and Consumer Protection, and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions. Each of the more than 500 staff members who work in the Office of the Attorney General is dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.\r\n\r\n\r\nDeputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Summary Statement

The Fraud and Consumer Protection\r\nDivision "Fraud Division", Medicaid Fraud Control Unit ("MFCU" or "Unit"),\r\nseeks a Legal Administrative Specialist to provide secretarial support in both\r\ncivil and criminal cases to MFCU Deputy Attorneys General.\r\n\r\n\r\nBased in MFCU's New Castle County\r\noffice, the successful candidate will be under the direct supervision of the\r\nUnit's Deputy Director. MFCU Legal\r\nAdministrative Specialist duties include, but are not limited to:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Creating and\r\n maintaining electronic and physical case files:\r\n Providing\r\n discovery;\r\n Filing\r\n documents in civil and criminal matters;\r\n Running\r\n criminal record checks;\r\n Typing\r\n complaints, information, and indictments;\r\n Requesting\r\n crime reports;\r\n Preparing\r\n legal correspondence as needed by Deputy Attorneys General;\r\n Making and\r\n tracking Unit purchases as necessary, including but not limited to office\r\n supplies;\r\n Shredding\r\n documents in accordance with office policy;\r\n Assisting in\r\n preparation of Unit correspondence, annual recertification, or other\r\n documents to the Unit's Federal partners, including the U.S. Department of\r\n Health and Human Services;\r\n Working with\r\n MFCU staff, or other law enforcement personnel and legal staff, to acquire\r\n necessary documents; and\r\n Other\r\n administrative duties as required by the Unit.\r\n\r\nTelework may be available for this position up to three days per week. JOB REQUIREMENTS for Legal Administrative Specialist Ill\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher.\r\n Two years of experience:\r\n \r\n Coordinating office activities such as planning/coordinating meetings or conferences; tracking workflow and follow up; composing meeting notes; directing clients/customers; explaining services to the public and customers/clients; establishing or maintaining filing/record systems.\r\n In document processing, which includes reviewing and evaluating records for completeness and conformity with laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, resolve deficiencies, interpret information, and track and monitor activities\r\n Using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.\r\n Using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.\r\n Preparing legal documents.\r\n Interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\tOR\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Five years of employment with the Department of Justice in a similar capacity.\r\n\r\n\r\n\tOR\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Six years of experience in coordinating office activities such as planning/coordinating meetings or conferences; tracking workflow and follow up; composing meeting notes; directing clients/customers; explaining services to the public and customers/clients; establishing or maintaining filing/record systems.\r\n Six years of experience in document processing which includes reviewing and evaluating records for completeness and conformity with laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, resolve deficiencies, interpret information, and track and monitor activities.\r\n Six years of experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.\r\n Six years of experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.\r\n Four years of experience preparing legal documents.\r\n Four years of experience interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.\r\n\r\n\r\n
