Position Summary
We are seeking a Assistant Project Manager to lead multiple commercial construction projects in the Charlotte NC market. This role is responsible for full project lifecycle management, from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This is a leadership role ideal for a design/build PM who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys owning both field and office execution.
Key Responsibilities
  • Bid preparation, project start up, contract award analysis, permit and regulatory submissions and project system set up.
  • Assisting with coordination and reviewing of drawings, submissions, specifications, changes, and document control.
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the project schedule and costing system and forecasting.
  • Assisting with material procurement and expediting deliveries.
  • Assisting in preparing and tracking payment requests/invoices and estimates.
  • Change management - assisting in set-up, issuing documentation for pricing and change administration.
  • Subcontract administration - defining scope of work, answering RFI's, Submittals, and general document control and monitoring progress.
  • Monitoring and assisting in the implementation of quality control, safety, and environment programs.
  • Project close out, involved in coordinating documentation - deficiencies, warranties, maintenance, and final payments.
  • Serve as the onsite quality manager for assigned trades by verifying subcontractor deliveries that meet approved submittal requirements.
  • Attending and participating in project meetings and assisting the Project Manager with the preparation of progress reports and meeting minutes.
  • Assist with the distribution of proposals, change documents to subcontractors/suppliers and assist with collecting pricing and/or preparing proposal requirements for internal pricing reviews.
  • Ensure POs and Change Orders are provided to accounting
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Assist with constructability reviews and support the development of construction documents

Qualifications
  • 4 years' working experience in Project Management (Construction preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree (Construction Management, and Engineering preferred)
  • Previous experience in institutional construction is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word & Excel) and virtual collaboration tools.
  • CMIC, and Procore experience preferred
  • Ability to travel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities are required to find solutions to various issues, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, initiative and positive, "can-do" attitude is essential.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Working knowledge of scheduling tools and exposure to CPM schedules / Gantt charts
  • Understanding of project financial management (budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting)
  • Prior construction or GC-related experience, whether in the field or office
  • Experience with Procore, or the ability to quickly adapt and operate within project-specific workflows and requirements
  • Strong document control skills, with attention to detail across submittals, RFIs, and change management
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • A problem solver who can manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • A clear communicator who can support Project Managers, collaborate with subcontractors, and build client relationships
  • A self-starter with a "can-do" attitude who is eager to learn and grow into greater project leadership responsibilities
  • Highly organized and analytical, with the ability to juggle administrative, financial, and coordination tasks simultaneously
