EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills, including working with decimals and fractions.
  • Basic reading comprehension and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, perform tasks, and make sound decisions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
  • Ability to learn and navigate electronic inventory, tooling, and tracking systems.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as Oracle, is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and follow established processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, purchasing, and other internal teams.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience in a warehouse, tool crib, inventory control, or material control environment preferred.
  • Experience working with manufacturing tooling, gages, fixtures, or setup materials is a plus.
  • Experience using inventory management or electronic tracking systems is preferred.

Join our Winsted, CT team as a Tooling Coordinator and play a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations. You'll help keep production moving by ensuring the right tooling, gages, fixtures, and setup materials are available when and where they're needed

SUMMARY

The Tooling Coordinator supports plant operations by managing, issuing, and maintaining tooling and setup kits used throughout the manufacturing floor. This position plays an important role in ensuring manufacturing teams have the correct tooling, gages, fixtures, and setup materials available when needed.

The Tooling Coordinator also supports continuous improvement initiatives focused on setup efficiency, tooling availability, inventory accuracy, cost reduction, and improved tooling and supply practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and maintain inventory of fixtures, diamond rolls, gages, scooters, set masters, and other tooling.
  • Perform daily shop-floor walks to identify gages and tooling that are no longer in use and return them to the crib.
  • Issue tooling and materials from the crib to the manufacturing floor as needed.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve setup tool kits to support efficient machine setups.
  • Develop and improve tooling delivery and staging processes.
  • Coordinate operation sheet and tooling documentation control.
  • Remove completed operation tool kits from manufacturing cells and return tooling to the crib.
  • Coordinate rejected diamond rolls for repair and ensure repaired tooling is properly returned and staged.
  • Re-stage and organize all tooling returned to the crib.
  • Process, inspect, and kit new tooling entering the manufacturing operation.
  • Maintain and update tooling surveillance inspection stickers.
  • Coordinate the movement and availability of inspection gages between the tooling crib and layout.
  • Support the supply crib by issuing materials and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Work with outside vendors, suppliers, and internal support teams to maintain appropriate tooling inventory and resolve shortages or discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate tooling inventory records using electronic gage and tooling tracking systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tooling availability, setup efficiency, material usage, and overall process effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in and promote continuous improvement, EHS, Quality, and 6S programs.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
