Job description

A California-based construction management firm has an immediate opening for a Document Controls Manager to join their team supporting projects across Southern California, starting with a major transit construction project in the Inland Empire.


  • Analyze, quality check, file, and retrieve electronic construction-related documents
  • Process documents on incoming and outgoing transmittals
  • Review and/or quality check technical reports, specifications, drawings, and other documents
  • Identify and use the correct tools, systems, and techniques to index, file, and control documentation
  • Work with multiple contractors, project team members, and project management with the control, distribution, maintenance, and retrieval of project-related documents
  • Work proactively to resolve issues and mitigate risks
  • Support other team members and the client on document control procedures

  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Business a plus
  • In lieu of education, 8+ years total experience in A/E/C document control, with some prior management-level experience.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills; solutions-oriented and focused on delivering effective solutions for the customer.
  • Experience with workflow/ process flow development
  • Experience working with Construction or Engineering documentation required; Prior experience on transit / transportation projects a huge plus
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask, and troubleshoot for multiple projects
  • Advanced MS Office Suite skills required
  • Proficiency in Procore, SharePoint, Aconex, or other document management software a plus
