Job description

Litigation Docket Clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented Litigation Docket Clerk to manage litigation calendars, track court deadlines, and support attorneys and legal staff with docketing and case management. This role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and knowledge of court rules and filing procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Calendar and monitor court deadlines, hearings, trials, depositions, and filing dates.
  • Review court notices, orders, pleadings, and correspondence for docketing requirements.
  • Calculate deadlines in accordance with federal, state, and local court rules.
  • Maintain and update the firm’s docketing and case management systems.
  • Prepare and file documents through electronic filing systems as needed.
  • Send timely reminders to attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff.
  • Track service dates, response deadlines, and other litigation-related events.
  • Communicate with courts, attorneys, and staff regarding scheduling and docket matters.
  • Ensure all docket entries are accurate, complete, and updated promptly.
  • Assist with general litigation support and administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation docketing experience in a law firm or legal environment.
  • Hands-on experience using CompuLaw is required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules and litigation deadlines.
  • Experience calculating deadlines for pleadings, discovery, motions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
  • Familiarity with electronic court filing systems, including federal and state e-filing platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage a high volume of time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, document management systems, and case management software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in a professional legal environment.
