Description

About This Position:

We are seeking Junior Engineers (0-2 years of experience) to complement existing engineering staff in our Highway group.

Responsibilities may include: field work, traffic engineering and analysis of roadways, design and layout of project components in 2d and 3d, preparing construction drawings and documents, field observation for adherence to construction plans and specifications, report writing and cost estimating. Proficiency with either AutoCAD or Microstation, Inroads, AutoTurn, Synchro, Vissim and GIS software a plus, but not required.

Engineers I/II evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional types of plans, investigations, or surveys with relatively few complex features under the general guidance of a Project Engineer or Project Manager. Work on small projects or portions of larger projects. Typical projects include highway design, long range transportation planning, and traffic impact studies.

Other Possible Essential Job Functions:

  • Primary data collector in the field.
  • Perform specific portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Perform standard computations or basic engineering analysis.
  • Maintain equipment inventory.
  • Attend project meetings with senior staff.
  • Responsible for basic QA/QC tasks; review of own work, as well as reviewing the work of Junior Engineers and Technicians.
  • Provide limited supervision to technicians.
  • Coordination with municipalities/agencies regarding background volumes, accident data, signal timings, etc.
  • Develop and analyze trip generation and volume.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program or an approved equivalent.

Hourly Pay Range:

Albany, NY and Syracuse, NY: $31.50/hour - $39/hour

Poughkeepsie, NY: $32/hour - $41/hour

Westchester - White Plains, NY: $32.50/hour - $45/hour

Pay is based on applicant's ability/experience and will be rated accordingly.
