Job description

California Vehicle Plates is hiring an experienced DMV Vehicle Registration Representative for our Redondo Beach office.


This position is responsible for helping customers complete California vehicle registration and title transactions accurately and efficiently. The representative will review ownership documents, identify transaction requirements, calculate fees, process transactions through Samba Safety, collect payments, and communicate clearly with customers.


This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have at least 12 months of hands-on vehicle registration experience and must have previously processed transactions using Samba Safety.


The right candidate should be able to review a transaction, identify missing documents or DMV issues, explain what is needed to the customer, and independently process routine transactions from start to finish.

Responsibilities
  • Process vehicle registration and title transactions through Samba Safety
  • Review titles, registrations, bills of sale, lien releases, and supporting documents
  • Process California ownership transfers
  • Process out-of-state vehicle registrations and title transfers
  • Handle registration renewals
  • Assist with duplicate titles, replacement registration cards, plates, and stickers
  • Calculate DMV fees and collect customer payments
  • Identify missing documents, DMV stops, transaction errors, and unresolved record issues
  • Complete and review California DMV forms
  • Explain registration requirements and next steps to customers
  • Communicate with customers in person, by phone, and by email
  • Coordinate VIN verifications, smog inspections, and other transaction requirements
  • Scan, organize, and maintain complete transaction records
  • Follow up with customers regarding incomplete transactions
  • Balance speed, accuracy, and professional customer service
  • Protect customers’ personal and vehicle information
Requirements
  • At least 12 months of recent vehicle registration processing experience
  • Previous hands-on experience using Samba Safety
  • Experience in personally processing vehicle registration transactions, not only collecting documents or scheduling appointments
  • Working knowledge of California DMV registration and title procedures
  • Ability to process routine registration transactions with limited supervision
  • Familiarity with California DMV forms and supporting documentation
  • Ability to recognize missing documents, registration stops, and transaction errors
  • Strong attention to detail and document accuracy
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable handling customer payments and confidential information
  • Basic computer, email, scanning, and data-entry skills
  • Dependable attendance
  • Ability to work in person at our Redondo Beach office
  • High school diploma or equivalent
