About this position: DMU Supervisor Location – El Paso, TX

Wage/Salary Range: $31.00 per hr.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily DMU operations and assigned personnel.
  • Ensure all duties are performed safely and in compliance with company policies, procedures, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor daily operations, staffing, and workflow to ensure operational requirements and customer expectations are met.
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees to improve performance, productivity, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback as needed.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, personnel documentation, and other required records.
  • Investigate and assist in resolving operational issues, employee concerns, and other workplace challenges.
  • Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and care of assigned equipment and facilities.
  • Promote a professional work environment that supports teamwork, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Review facility population counts and supporting documentation to ensure accurate, real-time accountability of the detainee population.
  • Approve or deny detainee population movements into, out of, and throughout the EPSPC, including dormitories, housing units, and other assigned areas.
  • Prepare and distribute detainee-related reports and assist in identifying and correcting documentation or data discrepancies.
  • Enter, retrieve, organize, and maintain detainee records and support documentation.
  • Print, assemble, organize, and maintain board tags on the count room board to support accurate detainee accountability.
  • Receive, compile, and enter lay-in information; print and distribute lay-in passes and rosters.
  • Assist with detainee housing assignments to ensure compliance with legal, medical, custody, and operational requirements.
  • Perform administrative duties necessary to support EPSPC compliance with PBNDS 2011, as revised in 2016, and other applicable requirements.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: (preferred) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University

Level of Experience Requirements:

  1. Current ICE Public Trust Clearance
  1. 5 years’ experience in a detention or correctional setting
  1. Performance demonstration of good conduct and personal character
  1. Ability to write comprehensive and analytical policies and procedures.
  1. Demonstrate ability to work in a Team or Self-driven environment.
  1. Ability to demonstrate acute knowledge of PBNDS and ACA policy, as applicable to the EPSPC.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Physically capable of responding to emergencies, such as running with a fire extinguisher.
  • Capable of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations.
  • English literacy and ability to write reports in English
  • Meet physical/health requirements for duties.
  • Ability to use Computer Programs, such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University
  • Ability to speak, write and comprehend a second language (Spanish or any language)

Necessary Physical Requirements

Essential job functions will require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing, and complex movements for prolonged periods of time.

Applicants must be able to perform through pat-down searches and be able to physically search physical structures for contraband.

Applicants must be able to respond to emergency situations, such as fires and run for prolonged distances with a fire extinguisher. Applicants must also be able to respond to physical disturbances that are violent in nature. Applicant must be able to assist in quelling physical altercations, as well as defending themselves from physical assault.

Job is performed in a multitude of settings. There are various positions that could tentatively be performed on any given 8 – 12 hour day. These include the following:

  • Sitting at desk and periodically walking to conduct security checks
  • Utilizing computers in offices or buildings
  • Confined to office space for more than 8 hours

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position will have supervisory responsibilities.

DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
