Title: Business Manager

Reporting Manager: Vice President of Sales

Location: 2400 Huntington Blvd., Hoffman Estates IL 60192

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm

Classification: Exempt

Travel: 10-25%

Employment is conditioned on DMG MORI's ability to obtain and maintain any necessary export licensing.

Essential Job Functions:

The Business Manager works closely with the Vice President of Sales and collaborates with executive leadership to support and drive the development of the overall business. This role operates with a high degree of independence, requiring strong business acumen, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to translate strategic direction into execution. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily and must be able to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsibilities include up to and not limited to:

  • Maintain close interaction with national sales leadership and collaborate across Regional Managers, Operations Managers, and Sales Managers to support execution of key business initiatives
  • Monitor and organize summary reports for sales KPIs at national and regional levels
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the direct sales and service business model
  • Generate and present data, reporting, and executive summaries for internal and external meetings using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Conduct follow-up and distribution of materials for internal and external meetings to ensure alignment
  • Support demand forecasting and inventory planning activities based on sales trends, product requirements, and manufacturing capacity
  • Maintain understanding of the sales process, P&L statements, and cost structures to support financial and operational decision-making
  • Support margin optimization and cost management initiatives through data analysis and reporting
  • Develop and support implementation of strategic sales, service, and marketing initiatives
  • Plan, organize, and participate in customer visits, tradeshows, and strategic events in coordination with cross-functional teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, in business or related field preferred
  • Industry knowledge or recent experience in machine tool or capital equipment environments preferred, not mandatory
  • 3+ years of experience in project engineering, business operations, sales support, or related role
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge in Microsoft Teams
  • Experience with CRM systems and data reporting/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) to track sales metrics, KPIs, and business performance
  • Strong communication skills to include effective communication with varying levels of external customers, external suppliers, internal technical staff, and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new products, manufacturing technologies, customer applications, and sales processes to support business and customer requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including development of executive summaries, flow charts, and Gantt charts
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and support business decision-making
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
  • Proven flexibility with shifting priorities and ability to work under pressure and in new environments
  • Proven organizational skills, with high attention to detail to meet goals and set priorities
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to changing priorities

Work Environment:

General office environment will be experienced. There will be periodic exposure to manufacturing environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery.

Physical Demands:

Frequent: Sitting at a desk, utilizing computers and phones. Repetitive hand, wrist, arm, and shoulder movements.

Periodic: Business travel, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
