Survey Technician II - III



Founded in 1973, DJ&A is a multidisciplinary professional services consulting firm with office locations across Montana, Colorado, Washington, South Dakota, New Mexico, and Nevada. Our team of more than 180 professionals works across the country to deliver a diverse range of engineering, environmental, survey, landscape architecture, and planning projects for federal, local, tribal, and private clientele.


We are currently seeking highly talented individuals with 7+ years of land surveying experience in a Survey Technician role that takes pride in the quality of their work, functions exceptionally well in team environments, and have a desire to contribute to the overall success of the company.


General Responsibilities:


This position will assist Registered Professional Surveyors with ALTA surveys, boundary analysis, topographic surveys, preparation of easement documents, legal descriptions, final plat preparation and construction staking tasks.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing of raw field data through Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D
  • Basemap production with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center for production activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple survey tasks, project coordination, and interaction with other engineering design teams.
  • Coordinate and work with field crews and other office staff.
  • Ensure company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
  • Knowledge of Trimble survey field equipment is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced growing environment.
  • Strong listening, writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to process and draft utilizing LiDAR point clouds and imagery.
  • TBC Scanning Module experience is preferred.
  • MicroStation experience is a plus.
  • Carlson experience is a plus.
  • Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff.
  • Experience calculating Public Land Survey System monument search coordinates and experience in drafting cadastral surveys.
  • Prepares metes and bounds descriptions for boundary surveying projects, exhibits and various mapping products.
  • Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans.
  • Perform QA/QC checks.


Preferred Certification, Education or Experience

  • Surveyor-in-Training Certification
  • Level II Certified Survey Technician
  • An Associate Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of study
