Job description

Vehicle Engineering Program Management Manager

The Manager will have the opportunity to lead a portion of our Program Management team at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. ย In response to the success of our Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands, the team is rapidly growing to lead the expansion of localized vehicle development activities. You will oversee the successful execution of complex vehicle programs and projects, ensuring timely delivery, and achievement of program targets. This is a supervisory position, meaning you will be responsible for directing the daily work, training, and performance of multiple team members.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of program analysts, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to drive exceptional performance
  • Lead problem-solving activities to find solutions to engineering challenges; leverage competitive benchmarking, business case analysis, cost & weight initiatives, market & customer analysis
  • Prepare and deliver frequent reports to upper- and executive-level management
  • Drive alignment across organizations; develop one-voice agreement on program issues, features, and specs critical to program viability, N.A. consumer needs, and market success
  • Develop and implement program management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to ensure consistent and effective execution of projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define program objectives, scope, and success criteria, and establish clear project plans and timelines
  • Monitor program progress, identify risks and issues, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery and achievement of program goals
  • Conduct regular reviews of program performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement process enhancements to optimize program outcomes
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders, providing regular updates on program status, milestones, and key deliverables
  • Manage program budgets, resource allocation, and forecasting activities, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and adherence to financial targets
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing, professional development, and a culture of continuous learning
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in program management, and leverage this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
  • Engineering degree
  • Overall 10+ years of experience
    • 2-5 years of experience in vehicle program management or related field
    • 7-10+ years of prior experience in the automotive industry
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Proven record in successfully leading and delivering complex programs and projects
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving innovation and process improvement
  • In-depth knowledge of program management methodologies, tools, and frameworks
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple programs and projects concurrently
  • Resilient, flexible, and able to adapt to rapidly changing business requirements
  • Passion for discovery and learning; a curiosity that drives you to look beyond the obvious
