Job description

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for increasing gross profit and market share while developing ongoing relationships with new and existing customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Utilize market data and develop sales strategies to increase SILVER/GOLD/PLATINUM customer base.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of products and services offered by the company.
  • Travel throughout assigned territory to meet with regular and prospective customers.
  • Able to develop and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Provide pricing, credit terms, and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Provide activity reports and sales plans for the assigned territory.
  • Actively participate in aggressive sales and skills training
  • Adhere to all requirements outlined in the Sales Policy
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of business development experience, ideally within international freight forwarding and logistics services
  • Experience with CRM and CMS tools preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of freight forwarding industry to include - air/ocean/imports/exports/customs brokerage operations.
  • Must have a deep knowledge of the local market, customers, and competitive landscape.
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Skilled in consultative selling and managing complex sales cycles.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to travel frequently within the region.
  • Thorough knowledge of successful sales techniques
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Self-driven individual, able to work in a team and independently

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of business development experience, ideally within international freight forwarding and logistics services.
  • Experience selling in verticals such as - Projects, Pharma & Healthcare, Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, Technology, Energy Solutions, and Technology.
  • Experience with CMS system

ACCOUNT CLASSIFICATION
  • BASE: Yearly gross profit less than $25,000
  • SILVER: Yearly gross profit between $25,001 - $75,000
  • GOLD: Yearly gross profit between $75,001 - $150,000
  • PLATINUM: Yearly gross profit between $150,001 - $750,000
  • DIAMOND: Yearly gross profit exceeding $750,000

    In addition to base salary, JAS Forwarding offers a comprehensive benefits package, including dental, vision, and health insurance, 401(k), bonuses (depending on role) etc.
