Job description

The Supervisor, Distribution is responsible for supervising daily warehouse, distribution, and inventory operations in support of a foam molding and seating manufacturing facility. This position oversees shipping, receiving, inventory control, material movement, and warehouse personnel to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate flow of raw materials and finished goods. Working collaboratively with other supervisors and cross-functional departments, this role drives operational excellence, supports production schedules, and promotes a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise daily warehouse and distribution operations, including shipping, receiving, material handling, picking, replenishment, stock transfers, and inventory transactions.
  • Coordinate staffing and daily work assignments to ensure adequate coverage and maximize productivity while supporting production and customer delivery requirements.
  • Partner with Production, Planning, Customer Service, Quality, and other operational leaders to ensure timely movement of materials and on-time shipment of customer orders.
  • Oversee all inbound and outbound freight activities, ensuring compliance with shipping schedules, carrier requirements, and documentation accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counting, transaction audits, and inventory reconciliation while investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Troubleshoot warehouse management system (WMS) and ERP inventory issues to maintain accurate inventory records and efficient warehouse operations.
  • Ensure raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods are stored, identified, and handled in accordance with company standards and inventory control procedures.
  • Assist in locating critical or missing inventory and expedite material movement to minimize production disruptions and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain timekeeping, attendance, scheduling, and other workforce records in accordance with company policies.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback to warehouse and distribution employees through regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, corrective action, and employee development activities.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity, and inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor warehouse metrics and key performance indicators, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize material flow.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and housekeeping standards while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure the safe operation and proper maintenance of forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and other warehouse equipment, reporting maintenance concerns as needed.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to inventory variances, shipping errors, customer complaints, and operational issues.
  • Support physical inventories, cycle count programs, process improvement initiatives, and new operational projects as assigned.
  • Serve as a member of the facility leadership team, working collaboratively with fellow supervisors to achieve departmental and plant performance goals while providing leadership coverage as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in distribution management or related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • Two (2) years related experience in distribution inventory control or similar field or equivalent level of education and experience
  • One (1) year of experience in a leadership role, coaching and managing staff
  • Proficiency using various software, applications, and programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of ERP, warehouse management.
  • Attention-to-detail as well as organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to navigate relationship building at various levels for internal/external customers, direct reports, and other departments.
  • Travel up to 5%.
