The role involves developing and engineering comprehensive solutions for warehouse design, inventory management, and automation. Key responsibilities include analyzing customer data, product flows, and operational requirements to create optimal solutions. This includes designing warehouse layouts, material handling systems, and processes. The role also requires participation in client meetings to present solutions and manage expectations, acting as a liaison between operations, the IT team, and customers to ensure that solution delivery aligns with customer needs. Additionally, the position involves collaborating with automation providers to deliver the most optimal options while staying updated on technological advancements to incorporate into solution designs. Lastly, the individual is responsible for overseeing the handoff to the implementation team and assisting in onboarding new clients to ensure a seamless transition from proposal to execution.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, automation technologies, and process optimization, and will be skilled in translating client requirements into practical, cost-effective solutions.  The Solutions Engineer should be comfortable working independently with minimal direction.  This position reports to the VP of Solutions Engineering. We're looking for a solid player with succession capabilities beyond this role; one with the capacity to engage teams and build followership.

  • Partner with the sales team to understand client challenges, needs, and objectives. Help design and present tailored logistics solutions that leverage automation and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop custom distribution and fulfillment solutions. Ensure solutions align with client goals and internal capabilities.

  • Support the sales team in presenting solutions to clients, offering technical insights and explaining how proposed solutions will address their needs. Assist in developing proposals and RFP responses.
  • Collaborate with the pricing team to develop accurate cost models for proposed solutions, ensuring that pricing is competitive and aligned with operational capabilities.
  • Continue to provide technical leadership throughout the implementation process, working with operations and IT to ensure the successful execution of the solution.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in logistics automation. Function as a thought leader within the company, continuously looking for ways to improve our solution offerings and processes.
  • Leverage artificial intelligence and generative AI tools to accelerate and enhance the pursuit process, including RFP response development, financial modeling, warehouse layout design, and client proposal creation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with AI-powered tools and emerging technologies as a core competency of the role; actively evaluate and adopt new platforms that improve solution quality, speed, and differentiation.

About the Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated record of accomplishment in warehousing and logistics.

Additional requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in 3PL distribution and fulfillment with at least 3 years focused on automation and solution design.
  • Strong understanding of automation technologies and their application in a 3PL environment
