Job description

Position OverviewThe Warehouse Department Manager will be responsible for delivering warehouse and logistics solutions that provide the best customer experience in an efficient and cost effective manner. The Department Manager will have a primary focus on reducing costs/P&L performance, efficiencies, safety, service, strategic planning and projects, as well as team development to meet the department and company strategic goals. This position will develop internal and external partnerships with transportation operations, sales, ops finance, procurement, and customers to continuously improve service metrics while reducing operational costs.  This position will develop the operating plan for the assigned warehouse operations, both inbound and outbound, and is accountable for achieving overall operating results that are consistent with campus and company goals. This position will manage the operations of assigned warehouses and work teams and ensures results meet or exceed customer expectations for product quality and service reliability, speed, and accuracy. Job Description

Description

  • Responsible for leading and/or influencing a team to optimal performance by holding the team accountable to key metrics such as, but not limited to, on-time dispatch, efficiency KPIs, ISQL performance, inventory accuracy, and asset management. Providing consistent coaching while maintaining morale and the overall development of team members. Creates high customer service and productivity expectations among associates, monitors individual and team performance, and takes action to correct performance gaps and /or address improvement opportunities. Leads the development of improved work processes and procedures that enhance productivity and effectiveness of assigned work teams, equipment, and space, and is accountable for achieving the incremental results from the implementation of these improvements.
  • Responsible for managing the P&L in the budgeting, forecasting, and execution cycles. Identifies opportunities to improve processes that result in lowered expense and/or improved execution with an understanding of how each change affects key stakeholders and the region. Prepares operating budgets for assigned warehouses, reviews and finalizes operating budgets with the General Manager and Associate General Manager, and is accountable for developing and implementing work processes that ensure achievement of budgetary and service goals.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations. Oversees scheduling of work teams and initiates short and long term planning with supervisors to ensure the assigned warehouses meet the needs of the business under different and changing business conditions. Assesses business conditions, evaluates business needs, and takes action to address near-term opportunities to improve service, reduce costs, and enhance operational results of assigned warehouses and work teams.
  • Holds the team accountable for clear communication with proper stakeholders and serves as the champion for all internal and external communication. Builds relationships and ensures open communication lines with partners in transportation operations, sales, customer service, procurement and the customer. Accountable for developing Talent and driving positive leadership engagement.
  • Owns promoting a safety culture and ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations and company policies, providing consistent application in all aspects of discipline. Maintains safe working conditions and leads accident prevention initiatives to reduce injuries and workers compensation losses. Ensures all hiring practices and training is complete and to standard. Enforces the execution of the company's policies and standard operating procedures. Responsible for ensuring employees are informed and aware of business processes and policies.
