Responsibilities

Operations and Production

  • Direct and oversee all daily manufacturing operations including pre-hung door production, machining, assembly, finishing, packaging and shipping and receiving.
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and production output to maximize efficiency.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve throughput.
  • Coordinate with sales, purchasing and logistics teams to align production with customer demand.
  • Manage the order fulfillment, and on-time delivery functions including product selection, loading, and transportation.
  • Resolve problems regarding shipment or delivery of an order, and order backlog issues.

Business and Operational Acumen

  • Demonstrates strong business acumen with the ability to balance operational performance, customer service, labor efficiency, inventory management, and profitability.
  • Uses data and KPIs to make informed operational decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintains a customer-focused mindset while managing cost control, throughput, and quality standards.
  • Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement strategic solutions that improve profitability and long-term performance.
  • Partners effectively with sales, finance, purchasing, and leadership teams to align warehouse operations with broader business objectives.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and warehouse personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Foster a positive, safety-focused, and team-oriented culture.
  • Provide presence on the production floor to provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and real-time problem solving.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and workforce development.

Safety and Compliance

  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, training, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and facility operations.

Quality Control

  • Maintain high standards for product quality and workmanship.
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with customers and internal teams to resolve production or service concerns.

Inventory and Materials Management

  • Oversee inventory accuracy for doors, jambs, hardware, glass, and related materials.
  • Monitor material usage and reduce waste.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure proper stock levels and vendor performance.

Financial and Operational Performance

  • Manage plant operating costs and productivity metrics.
  • Develop and track KPIs including: labor efficiency, throughput, waste/scrap, on-time delivery, safety performance.
  • Assist in budgeting and capital improvement planning.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: College Degree or equivalent work experience in related job function. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, scheduling and production flow.

Preferred Qualifications: Typically more than five (5) years of experience in manufacturing leadership; preferably in door manufacturing, millwork, building materials, wood products or pre-hanging operations. May require professional certification.
