LOCATION: UI - CT - Orange - 100 Marsh Hill Rd

HOURLY RATE: $61.03 - $70.13

JOB GRADE: 6

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate switching and tagging orders, resolve construction scheduling conflicts, organize and lead switching meetings and develop and maintain the switching template.

  • Write switching and tagging orders for electric system distribution equipment in accordance with operating capabilities and applicable safety rules and Operating Procedures. Gain approval of switching orders.

  • Act as a lead for the Energy Control Center; remain knowledgeable of the current status of the Distribution System in order to maintain its integrity with the highest level of safety.

  • Continuously pursue technological advances relating to the Energy Control Center, to broaden the opportunities to the organization and to better serve the customer.

  • Ensure that Energy Control Center records, maps, logs, OMS data, operating instructions and procedures of the Distribution Electric System are accurate and up to date.

  • Monitor and evaluate the Energy Control Center effectiveness, provide skill development through on-the-job training.

  • Monitor operators & direct field personnel during normal & emergency conditions.

  • Evaluate Transmission and Distribution disturbance data, determine corrective actions and direct switching and tagging operations.

  • Communicate operational and disturbance events and equipment problems to system and maintenance engineers and other personnel as needed.

  • Represent UI on various committees and task forces to lead change towards the Division's goals and objectives, utilizing appropriate management systems and measurements.

  • Must be available for 24/7 coverage, as required for storms and other emergencies.

  • This position performs their job mainly using a workstation, telephone, and normal office equipment in an office environment.

Education & Experience

Education:

  • AS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technology field and 6 years electrical transmission and/or distribution experience.

  • In lieu of a Degree, 8 years electrical transmission and/or distribution experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in preparing or executing switching orders is preferred in either case.
