For 80 years, Winholt Equipment has been a leader in the custom design and manufacturing of food handling and food preparation equipment for the food service industry. We support customers nationwide through innovative engineering, product development, and reliable domestic distribution.


Winholt Equipment is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and optimize domestic logistics operations across our manufacturing and distribution network. This role focuses on daily freight execution, performance management, cost control, and the development of best practices that ensure efficient, reliable, and customer-focused logistics operations.

The Logistics Manager plays a critical role in minimizing total, landed cost, improving service performance, and supporting Winholt’s continuous improvement initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate daily outbound freight to ensure on-time shipments while optimizing carrier utilization and transportation cost.
  • Instill Winholt’s long-standing culture of positive associate engagement through team building, personal development, and empowerment.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor logistics KPIs to evaluate carrier and 3PL performance, including on-time pickup and delivery, accessorial charges, and freight claims.
  • Analyze freight invoices and transportation costs against quoted and contracted rates to identify variances and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage logistics budgets and expenditures, including evaluating and recommending capital equipment investments.
  • Collaborate with site managers and executive leadership to assess storage needs and implement space-optimization strategies.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to site-level logistics teams, ensuring operational consistency and maximum efficiency.
  • Review, standardize, and enforce logistics SOPs; provide training and ensure compliance through established performance metrics.
  • Oversee the company’s RMA process, including cost analysis, disposition, and closure.
  • Partner closely with Customer Care to resolve logistics-related issues such as pricing discrepancies, lead times, damages, and non-conformance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by leading performance reviews, driving corrective actions, and communicating results to stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally with Procurement, suppliers, and internal customers to strengthen inbound and outbound logistics performance.
  • Serve as a backup to the Shipping Manager, assuming full responsibility for Shipping Manager duties in his/her absence.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Five (5) Experience in logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing domestic logistics operations, including daily freight scheduling, dispatching, cost control, and performance analysis.
  • Experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of logistics, inventory management systems, and ERP platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including the ability to present to leadership.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and communicate effectively in person and by phone.
  • Regular use of hands and arms for handling, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including eye protection and protective clothing.
