Job description

The Distribution Logistics Supervisor supervises all activities of the MVEC contract ROW crews, warehouse, facilities and locators. Provides backup supervision of MVEC line crews. The Distribution Logistics Supervisor also ensures MVEC meets its mission of providing safe and reliable power.


At MVEC we are a Team! The Supervisory Team is empowered to successfully lead MVEC's day-to-day operations. The Supervisory Team spends most time on operational tasks, are subject matter experts for their areas and suggest "what's" and develop and implement "how's". Leading by example, the Supervisory Team's focus is to:

  • Empower and retain successful Team Members ensuring cooperative objectives are met. They effectively establish priorities, develop processes, and manage resources.
  • Help review and maintain accurate cooperative policies and procedures to follow.
  • Be responsible to proactively resolve issues and implement programs to further MVEC's strategy.
  • Be responsible for recruit, onboard, train, coach, evaluate performance and provide disciplinary action of direct reports, including decisions related to reward, transfer, suspension, promotion, or any commendation-related action.
  • Work cooperatively across departments, communicate effectively and be responsive.

All Team Members are accountable to MVEC's vision and mission, serving the membership and Team with servant leadership, dedication to safety and following the Team Member handbook.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads/Supervises the planning, scheduling, and oversight of MVEC contract ROW crews, ensuring work is performed in accordance with the MVEC/IBEW Local Union 160 Labor Agreement and established safety standards. Oversees implementation of the annual construction work plan, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and without unscheduled outages through effective resource allocation, contractor management, and operational coordination.
  • Plans, directs, and supervises MVEC's warehouse and logistics functions to support the cooperative's operational and construction objectives. Ensures efficient inventory control, material handling, and distribution practices while maintaining inventory turnover benchmarks comparable to peer utilities. Leads warehouse staff in the safe, accurate, and timely receipt, storage, and issuance of materials for line construction crews, contractors, and outside sales. Develops and monitors logistics processes, warehouse performance metrics, and inventory strategies to maximize efficiency, control costs, and ensure material availability.
  • Ensure MVEC's Gopher State One Call (GSOC) requirements is run efficiently by managing required locating expectations, recommending improvements to maintain a cost effective contract Locating service, and assuring Locating is accurate and the safety of field personnel is preserved. Investigate failures provide billing and recommendations to support accuracy and accountability.
  • Direct and supervise all facility maintenance activities and Substation supporting properties. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fire protection, security, and building systems. Conduct routine facility inspections and address deficiencies promptly. Coordinate emergency repairs to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Serve as On-Call Supervisor as assigned and as needed.
  • Provides personnel orientation/training, coaching, evaluating performance, and disciplinary action/monitoring of staff, including decisions related to reward, transfer, suspension, promotion, or any other necessary disciplinary or commendation-related action for staff.
  • Duties as assigned by Supervisor.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduate
  • 7 years of construction line work experience
  • Certified in D.O.T. Drug and Awareness (or able to obtain within 6 months)
  • Valid MN CDL drivers license and good driving record
  • Knowledge in all aspects of power line construction and maintenance.
  • Strong emphasis on electrical technology
  • Above average computer skills
  • Above average mechanical skills
  • Excellent people skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of Foreman or Lead Foreman experience
  • Power line worker Vo-tech degree


Schedule/Location:

On-site at our office location in Jordan, MN.


Pay and Benefits:

Pay Range: $125,830 - $145,000/annually

Pay will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and education.

Safety Class:
