POSITION OVERVIEW

The Distribution Center (DC) Supervisor is responsible for supervising all Distribution employees at their assigned location. This hands-on role is responsible for the safe operations of managing the inventory, wireless warehouse management system (WWMS), packaging, material movement and storage, shipping, receiving, inventory physical count, local product delivery in support of Sales, Customer Service, and other interdepartmental needs. This role may also assist in facilities management and machine and equipment repair, on an as-needed basis.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the daily distribution operations in support of corporate goals and objectives, while striving to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Continually provides supervision, coaching, counseling, training, and cross-training; assigning and disciplining direct reports and assisting with indirect reports, as needed.
  • Creates, updates, and implements work instructions and procedures as prescribed by the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Frequently reviews and adjusts WWMS and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) settings, including shipping, receiving, put-away, pick, and replenishment methods, to optimize Distribution performance and assign duties and tasks to Distribution Associates.
  • Train and delegate the safe usage of warehouse equipment like ladders, pallet jacks, hand trucks, platform trucks, forklifts, and personnel lifts.
  • Maintain and manages storage areas by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements for LEAN warehousing and optimization.
  • Develops product awareness and knowledge to assist customers, provide personnel training, and to assist with inventory management and stocking recommendations.
  • Oversight of all customer-specific package labeling and value-added services
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, overseeing the building and ground maintenance.
  • Learns, operates, and/or possibly repairs lease machines and equipment, either at the DC or in the field.
  • Supervises delivery schedules, fleet vehicles, and local delivery shipments, as applicable.
  • Makes on-going recommendations to management for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Can assist with answering phones, taking customer orders, processing orders, processing payments, and some other customer service-related duties, as applicable.
  • Participates in facilities management, as needed
  • All other duties, as assigned.


Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • ERP, Transportation Management or Shipping Software experience (required)
  • Associates Degree or higher (preferred)
  • LEAN or Six Sigma training (preferred)
  • OSHA 10 Hour training (obtainment required within 1 year).
  • First Aid or First Responder training (preferred)

Experience

  • 2-3 Years of previous distribution related experience (required)
  • 1-3 Years of leadership experience (preferred)
  • ISO-9001, or similar Quality Management System experience (preferred)
  • Mechanically inclined with ability to trouble-shoot facility or manufacturing equipment (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Forklift trained (preferred)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to consistently lift up-to 49 lbs. from floor to chest level with or without an accommodation.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate information.
  • Work in high climate conditions especially during the summer season. Our warehouses do not have air conditioning, but we do supply fans for air circulation.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and communication styles.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; written and oral communication
  • Ability to handle a multitude of different situations; sometimes simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Humble and willing to seek knowledge without hesitation.
