ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops a successful team through coaching, mentoring, and promoting teamwork. Fosters a spirit of unity among location and employee work areas.
  • Maintains time and attendance, and other performance records.
  • Evaluates, reports team's performance and addresses shortfalls to meet corporate, department, and location goals.
  • Helps develop and implement strategy to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Reviews DC performance in the areas of Safety, Shipping Accuracy, Efficiency, Past Due Orders, Fill Rate, and Inventory Accuracy - crucial to maintaining internal and external customer service standards.
  • Recommends and implements staffing plan for the shifts by work area to meet monthly operational staffing requirements.
  • Assures new employee training is completed and on boarding experience is successful. Maintains training program for distribution center warehouse personnel and continues program development.
  • Plans and directs DC daily activities including but not limited to:
    • Product and inventory transfer order fulfillment - Picking to Loading/Shipping.
    • Coordination and execution of direct to dealer shipments.
    • Inbound receiving - products, materials, etc.
    • Executes fulfillment plans and fulfillment waves in conjunction with logistics schedules based on customer commitments.
    • Manages the delegation of employees to work areas of the DC ensuring most effective use of location human and equipment resources keeping safety in mind to rotate and mitigate risk of injuries.
    • Oversees the quality inspection process of purchased finished goods, validating conformance to specifications. Assures reporting process is completed timely to the Supply Chain and Quality Assurance departments.
    • Maintains a work environment and culture of continuous improvement. Works with Logistics leaders, DC Manger, and team members to generate process improvements instrumental in establishing best practices and continuous improvement. Implements new concepts and procedures to support these objectives.
    • Leads operational safety focus. Assures safety plans are established and communicated to all personnel. Advises safety team, assures safety audits and observations are completed and assures team's compliance to OSHA standards.
    • All other tasks as assigned by Distribution management.

A DISTRIBUTION SUPERVISOR WILL POSSESS AND DEMONSTRATE:

  • Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining solid communication skills both verbally and especially by e-mail
  • Overall safety mindset is crucial to create an imbedded culture of safety within the employee population.
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating leadership skills that portray excellent team work mentality

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Warehouse hand-held ERP technology - experience a plus but not required - training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of Lean process principles and Continuous Improvement methodology.
  • 3-5 years warehouse experience

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand/bend/walk for long periods of time

Facility Notes: Oversee building/personnel during shift. Responsible for the safety of the staff on the shift. Pick/pack/stage customer orders. Load customer routes for delivery. Prepare paperwork for route delivery. Hours: 5pm till complete or 5:30am.
