Buffalo Trace Distillery is an American family-owned company based in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky. The Distillery's rich tradition dates back to 1773 and includes such legends as E.H. Taylor, Jr., George T. Stagg, Albert B. Blanton, Orville Schupp, and Elmer T. Lee.

Mission/Objectives

To provide property, building & grounds maintenance resulting in the distillery grounds and public buildings being maintained at the highest level of preparedness (5-star standards) and aesthetic beauty. Provide best-in-class service and support to operations, events, visitors and guests. Directly responsible for the execution of duties related to grounds maintenance and property maintenance.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Follow all safety rules, regulations, and policies. Report any near misses or hazards encountered during the day.
  • Maintain a safe work environment through proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Grounds and property tasks to include but not limited to maintaining garden, plant, and lawn areas utilizing horticulturally correct practices and principles. Such areas to be maintained to high aesthetic and cultural standards as set forth by management. Tasks to include, but not limited to:
  • Mowing
  • Trimming
  • Pruning
  • Bed maintenance
  • Mulching
  • Seeding
  • Fertilizing Plants/Soil Amendments
  • Landscape Area Leaf Removal
  • Safely operate tools and motorized equipment as required to perform key responsibilities and activities
  • Flexibility to work in an ever-changing environment with demonstrated ability to prioritize and juggle competing tasks
  • Fill out and turn in daily job sheets with required job status and hours worked to supervisors
  • Support Homeplace and Operations as assigned with:
  • Snow and ice removal tasks
  • Grounds/property maintenance tasks
  • Events & Visitor Center support tasks
  • Other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission and objectives, and abide by our values.

Experience Required

  • Must have experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Have a working knowledge of Distillery Operations
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to operate industrial and grounds equipment as required.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Education and/or experience in horticulture or landscape maintenance preferred
  • Knowledge of gardening techniques, tools, and products.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance as required
  • Must be physically able to stand, bend, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Must have experience with or the ability to learn the required tasks listed herein.
  • Good vision and manual dexterity.
  • Must have ability to climb and work at high elevations.
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment in all types of weather conditions.
