Duties and Responsibilities (* denotes essential functions)
  • *Assist Manoa campus wide media support unit in the areas of troubleshooting and providing classroom instructional technology support, special events, media loan pool and scantron services.
  • *Support trouble calls for Manoa's media support unit and IT service ticket management process
  • Provide orientation and instructional support to faculty and staff teaching in Hybrid classrooms or similar technology classrooms.
  • *Identify and resolve operational problems with equipment by providing basic troubleshooting techniques, providing assistance to faculty in resolving issues as required
  • * Establishes, updates and maintains daily policies and procedures for Media support unit, AV media in classrooms and Video Operations Center.
  • *Provide operational support of the University's video operations center that oversees cable broadcast distance learning programs and supports video conferences delivered over various instructional technologies.
  • Assist in the training, supervision, updating of policy and procedures and evaluation of student staff.
  • Assist users, both internal and external to the University, on preparation and presentation techniques related to distance learning, videoconferencing and classroom instruction.
  • *Operate all voice, video, and automation equipment used in the delivery of programming over various interactive video technologies.
  • *Monitors and troubleshoots programs on automation hardware severs, digital RAID storage systems and video on demand streaming servers.
  • Assist with the ITS video production services group that includes but is not limited to pre- production, acquisition and recording of footage, editing, and other aspects of video the production process.
  • Assist technical staff with the maintenance and installation of equipment in classrooms.
  • Keep abreast of recent trends in instructional technologies applicable to classroom instruction, hybrid type classroom and other online learning technologies
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Communications, Educational Technology or related field and 1 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for multimedia video productions and/or instructional technology in an education institution or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of instructional media demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with instructional media and video productions.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of instructional media and video productions.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software.
  8. Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of work in videoconferencing, web-conferencing, web streaming technologies, video telecommunications and multimedia development.
  9. Knowledge of methods, materials, practices, techniques and equipment used in instructional technology as it relates to multimedia presentations over distance learning technologies.
  10. Ability to understand, analyze, interpret and apply complex oral and written guides, instructions, manuals, standards, rules and regulations to a variety of work situations.
  11. Ability to work outside of normally scheduled work hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as directed.
  12. Knowledge of current technology and techniques used in electronic instruction, video production, multimedia presentations and distance learning.
  13. Knowledge of various computer-based word processing, design, Audio visual software programs and systems, Google suite of applications used in education.
  14. Ability to operate and instruct others on the operations of equipment used in multimedia.

Desirable Qualifications
  1. Ability to supervise students, direct the work and training of others.
  2. One year of progressively responsible professional experience in providing instructional support services including assisting in electronic instruction, coordinating with multiple campuses for events or instructional support services.
  3. Experience with various conferencing and video-based technologies.
