Essential Duties & Responsibilities Teach in-person, face-to-face college-level study strategy credit course at local area high schools as part of Dual Enrollment Program. Provide inclusive classroom atmosphere and content in accordance with departmental course outlines to include learner self-knowledge and self-regulation, adult learning theory, preparation for transfer, academic study strategies, health and wellness, critical thinking, and related activities.
Instruct and support students with diverse backgrounds using culturally relevant pedagogy, careful preparation of course materials, and effective instruction. Minimum Qualifications: A. The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution: Any master's degree level discipline in which learning assistance or tutoring is provided at the college where the coordinator is employed; OR A master's degree in education, educational psychology, or instructional psychology, or other master's degree with emphasis in adult learning theory; OR The equivalent (must request an equivalency review in the application), OR California Community College credential, "Valid for Life" (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline; refer to Ed Code 87355 (If meeting qualifications with this credential, a copy of the valid lifetime credential must be submitted with the application.); AND B
Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students. Preferred Qualifications: Communicate effectively to students orally and in writing. Prior experience facilitating groups of students in high school setting.
Willingness to teach in-person dual enrollment sections at local area high schools. Knowledge of adult learning theory, UDL , and developmental education philosophy. Ability to communicate curriculum meaningfully with students from diverse backgrounds.
