Description:

Tidy Services is looking for a Portable Restroom Service Supervisor to be a leader of a team of people who are committed to providing quality service to our customers in the extended Roanoke area. This job is a management position where the supervisor will need to understand the entire process of cleaning, servicing, and repairing portable restrooms and other portable products that Tidy Services offers. This position will mentor, train, and coach a team of 5 to 7 people who are service technicians. Toilets can be located at individual homes, construction sites, schools, and community events and festivals. RV holding tanks and external tanks used on trailers and other temporary sites are also serviced. The candidate will be someone that can adapt to rapidly changing situations and feel comfortable knowing that every day is different. They must be a strong leader who can handle multiple tasks in a very high-paced environment.


Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Portable Restroom Service Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day operations for portable toilet services at our Salem, VA, location.
  • Ensure all weekly/monthly service stops are completed on their assigned days.
  • Work with dispatchers to ensure scheduling and routing are done in the best way possible to maximize customer satisfaction, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Manage the end-of-day check-in process, capturing and communicating key service, safety, and equipment issues.
  • Coordinate driver meetings. Work with other departments to determine content, including training and company updates.
  • Ensure new drivers are trained properly and perform to company standards.
  • Review weekly demand/volume for routes, determine potential gains from re-routing, and recommend re-routes to the dispatch team.
  • Perform necessary discipline for drivers as needed, including write-ups.
  • Drive initiatives in continuous improvement, training, and efficiency.
  • Develop reports and analyses for operational performance and efficiency.
  • Set and monitor productivity, service, and safety targets for each driver by collecting accurate data and reporting.
  • Ensure that drivers comply with physicals, drug or alcohol tests, and training required by regulatory agencies. Document and maintain records required by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Transportation and OSHA.
  • Conduct Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining.
  • Visit customers and customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues, seeking service alternatives where appropriate. Ensure set-up errors and missed pickups are reported and resolved.
  • Responsible for all safety training and enforcing the safety program.
  • Other responsibilities defined by the General Manager.

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed outside in varying and extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time where employees are exposed to excessively loud noises from construction equipment, human debris, drug paraphernalia, and heavy equipment. Physical effort is required to perform heavy manual labor in uncomfortable conditions, climb ladders, bend, reach, and stand for long periods of time. Occasional exposure to slippery and/or uneven surfaces. Subject to 24-hour call back for emergency conditions. Appropriate training and safety equipment will be provided for all conditions.


Normal business hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Weekend work is scheduled as needed.

Requirements:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or related field preferred, or an equivalent amount of experience in related fields
  • Intermediate or advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong employee relations background
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems while maintaining professionalism
  • Ability to build effective relationships with staff at all levels of business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to be flexible, adaptable, able to work under pressure and handle multiple competing demands
  • Able and eager to learn new skills and embrace change and continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Have an insurable driving record: have a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience with no major moving violations (reckless driving, DUI, etc.) and no more than two (2) minor moving violations in the past twelve (12) months
