Job description

BioTrans LLC, a fast-growing global logistics provider specializing in cold chain transportation, technology and infrastructure for the life sciences industry is seeking a reliable Full Time Dispatcher to act as a communication point for emergency and non-emergency calls.

The ideal candidate should have a previous background in the logistics or trucking industry, be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in emergency situations. Preferred DOT knowledge with hours of service (HOS).

Full Time Dispatcher Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 1:00 -9:00 pm & Thursday – 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. Friday 1:00 - 9:00 pm. Job may require hours that exceed 10 hours per day.

Full Time Dispatcher Daily Routine and Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and dispatch drivers and trucks to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using direct personal contact, or cell phones and text
  • Contacts facilities with any delays as necessary.
  • Occasional warehouse duties, including receiving, sorting, and loading shipments. Sometimes local driving in emergency situations will be required.
  • Relay work orders, messages, and information to or from operations, managers, and drivers necessary to achieve successful execution
  • Responsible for the coordination, scheduling, dispatching, and planning of customer deliveries in order to effectively meet delivery schedules
  • Complete all required paper and electronic documents in a timely manner with focus on accuracy
  • Monitoring of drivers in relation to both their remaining hours of service and equipment as to its availability and to ensure they are travelling and on time.

  • Periodical route surveillance towards making recommendation or advising changes when necessary to ensure sustainable quality delivery operations

  • Provide immediate and professional customer service to both customers and drivers.

Required skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous background in trucking industry along with experience as a driver preferred
  • Must have some DOT knowledge (HOS)
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as Transportation, Logistics or Trucking Dispatcher or (2) years’ experience in related dispatch field
  • Familiarity with vehicles – maintenance, repair & record keeping
  • Exceptional computer skills including, but not limited to: Experience with Geotab/Samsara or equivalent GPS vehicle tracking software, Microsoft, Word, Excel, Outlook, data entry, internet resourcing & Google Maps and GPS data
  • Must have the ability to multitask and attention to detail
  • Be reliable / on-time with a courteous, friendly, and professional behavior

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting and standing for long periods
  • Bending, stooping, and twisting and light to moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
