Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator – Final Mile Delivery

Position Overview:


DSS Final Mile is seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly organized Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator to support our Tulsa final-mile delivery operation.This position plays an important role in the day-to-day success of our operation and serves as a primary point of communication between our customers, independent contractor drivers, warehouse personnel, and management.


The ideal candidate will have previous experience in courier, final-mile delivery, transportation, logistics, dispatch, or route operations and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day.


This is a hands-on operational position. We are looking for someone who can anticipate problems, communicate effectively, and take appropriate action to keep routes moving and customers informed.


Key Responsibilities:


· Coordinate and dispatch daily delivery routes and driver assignments.


· Monitor drivers and routes throughout the day to ensure deliveries remain on schedule.


· Maintain regular communication with independent contractor drivers regarding pickups, deliveries, customer requirements, and route changes.


· Monitor route progress and proactively identify potential service failures or delays.


· Assist with daily route balancing and make adjustments when necessary.


· Coordinate route coverage when a driver is unavailable or additional support is required.


· Respond to missed stops, delays, incorrect addresses, customer availability issues, damages, refused deliveries, and other service exceptions.


· Communicate delivery status and service issues to customers and management as appropriate.


· Ensure drivers follow customer-specific delivery requirements and DSS operating procedures.


· Monitor compliance with required scanning, photographs, signatures, and Proof of Delivery (POD) procedures.


· Review completed deliveries to ensure all required documentation has been properly submitted.


· Assist drivers with application, scanning, routing, and delivery-related issues.


· Maintain accurate records of route activity, service exceptions, customer communications, and corrective actions.


· Work closely with warehouse personnel to ensure freight is properly staged, scanned, and released to the appropriate routes.


· Coordinate returned, refused, damaged, and undelivered freight.


· Communicate driver performance and service concerns to management.


· Assist management with daily operational responsibilities and provide operational support when necessary.


· Maintain professional working relationships with customers, drivers, coworkers, and management.


· Perform other operational duties as necessary to support the Tulsa facility.


Qualifications:


· High school diploma or GED required.


· Previous experience in dispatching, transportation, courier operations, logistics, final-mile delivery, or route operations strongly preferred.


· 1–2 years of dispatch or logistics experience preferred.


· Experience working with independent contractor drivers is a plus.


· Strong computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, GPS/mapping applications, and transportation or dispatch software.


· Experience with delivery management, route optimization, scanning, or POD systems is preferred.


· Strong geographical knowledge of the Tulsa metropolitan area and surrounding Oklahoma markets is highly desirable.


· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


· Ability to manage multiple drivers, routes, customers, and operational issues simultaneously.


· Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.


· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues with minimal supervision.


· Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.

We are looking for someone who understands that dispatch is more than simply assigning a driver to a route. A successful DSS dispatcher takes ownership of the operation from the time routes are released until the final delivery is completed.


You should be comfortable communicating with drivers and customers, recognizing potential service issues before they become problems, and working with the operations team to develop solutions quickly.
