Job Description
At Washington Gas, safety is our top priority-and this role is at the center of it. You'll help coordinate and deploy resources in response to system emergencies and safety-related work, while monitoring routine service demand across the system.
  • As part of our 24/7 dispatch team, flexibility is essential. This role begins with a daytime training schedule (7:00 AM-3:00 PM) and transitions into a rotating shift schedule of 7:00 AM-3:00 PM or 3:00 PM-11:00 PM. Shift assignments may change over time, and candidates must be comfortable working evenings, holidays, and a rotating schedule.

CAD Dispatch Specialist Will:
• Coordinate emergency response to gas related incidents, normally involving emergency services personnel, multiple crews, supervision and other support resources.
• Take responsibility for the dispatch operation for periods outside of the core business hours; answer questions and provide guidance to other personnel as needed.
• Take direction from Senior Specialist, Operations Dispatch.
• Prioritize emergency and planned work, determine the appropriate response and dispatch resources via the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with the multiple call centers to set order execution levels and with the employees in the field to recommend appropriate resources/personnel to respond to high order counts and/or emergency situations.
• Serve as liaison between customers and field personnel to coordinate access problems and/or emergency situations.
• Direct Dispatch Assistants and Dispatch Clerks in the performance of their daily duties and responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in business, engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in utilities, natural gas, or a related field preferred (including dispatch, emergency response coordination, call center, or field operations.
• Familiarity with Washington Gas service area geography preferred.
• Experience with systems such as GIS, CAD, work management systems, COS, TomTom Work, trunked radio systems, or similar tools preferred.
• Working knowledge of company policies and procedures related to emergency response and service routing preferred.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other systems to gather, analyze, and share information.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to stay clear and focused in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and build effective working relationships with internal teams.
• Adaptable and flexible, including the ability to adjust shifts or extend hours as needed.
