The Role

Summary / Primary Role

The Dispatch Team Lead is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the drayage dispatch team while providing leadership and guidance to dispatch associates. This role coordinates local pickup and delivery schedules, manages driver assignments, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and experienced in LCL/FCL dispatch operations.

What You'll DoDispatch Operations
  • Coordinate local pickup and delivery schedules for inbound and outbound freight.

  • Manage daily driver assignments and line-haul freight movements.

  • Prepare delivery documentation and ensure manifests and invoices are completed accurately and on time.

Customer & Team Support
  • Communicate with customers via phone and email to provide timely updates and resolve transportation issues.

  • Build strong relationships with customers, carriers, drivers, and internal teams.

  • Assist with onboarding, training, and supporting dispatch team members.

Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with DOT Hours of Service (HOS), Hazmat regulations, and company policies.

  • Investigate shipping issues, resolve routine problems, and escalate complex matters when necessary.

  • Help establish and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while contributing to continuous process improvements.

What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of dispatch experience involving LCL and FCL freight.

  • Working knowledge of DOT Hours of Service (HOS) and Hazmat regulations.

  • Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Customer-focused with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of bills of lading, packing slips, commercial invoices, and shipping documentation.

  • Leadership experience or the ability to coach and support a small team is preferred.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
