About the Role & Team

“We Power the Magic!” That’s our motto at Disney Experiences (DX). Our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club.

We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

This role sits in the Enterprise Architecture organization within Disney Experiences Technology (DXT). It works closely with the Software and Solution Engineering teams for all of Disney Experiences. 
 

The Sr Manager, Enterprise Architecture will report to the Director - Technology, Enterprise Architecture and lead a core team of highly technical Architects and Engineers. 

About the Role & Team

As a Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture, you will lead the strategic core of our technology architecture group. This centralized team serves as the compass for all technology endeavors within our organization, ensuring that our IT landscape is robust, efficient, and aligned with our overarching business objectives. You will be at the helm of a function that is critical for navigating the complexities of our IT ecosystem, driving innovation, and maintaining a strategic connection between our business goals and technology investments.

The Enterprise Architecture team provides essential blueprints for our technology stacks, domains, and platforms. Your group will be responsible for the high-level strategic vision, establishing the standards and governance that empower our delivery teams to build with consistency and speed. You will work in close collaboration with the Solution Architecture and Engineering teams to foster a cohesive, agile, and forward-looking technology practice across the enterprise.
 

What You Will Do

The position will include the following duties & accountabilities:

  • Strategic Technology Leadership: Develop and maintain a holistic understanding of the business model, strategic goals, and how technology can be leveraged to achieve them. Manage an engineering team responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, debugging, and enhancing software solutions used in various computing environments.
  • Business Capability Mapping: Identify, document, and map the relationships and dependencies between high-level business capabilities to provide a comprehensive view of the technology ecosystem.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Aggregate and analyze critical data related to security risks, technical debt, and the current state of technology investments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Technology Roadmaps & Governance: Develop and maintain a technology heatmap of approved technologies, maturity levels, and support status. You will establish architectural principles, standards, and guidelines for Solution Architects to follow through project implementation. Supervise delivery optimization of large-scale or sophisticated software programs and systems, collaborating multi-functionally to align with business goals and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Serve as a liaison between Technology leadership, business leaders, and the architecture functions, ensuring all technology initiatives are aligned with the broader business strategy.
  • Collaborative Oversight: Provide strategic direction, devise roadmaps, and participate in the governance of shared technology assets. You will also conduct regular architecture review sessions to ensure solutions align with the enterprise architecture. Opportunity Management to identify how our portfolio can deliver on or contribute to solutions to better serve our partner teams, and ultimately, our Cast and Guests.
  • Craft and build a roadmap for delivering a world class support model and ensure ongoing health and performance of technology solutions
  • Review, augment, and build critical metrics for responsible systems, using visualization tools
  • Engage in estimation and planning across the organization, voicing recommendations, feedback, and solutions from a technical perspective and aligning to the overall project goals to deliver on-time & in-scope
  • Proactively track and assess emerging technologies across the industry to inform strategic decision-making and recommendations
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience with demonstrated experience in Software Engineering Technical Design, Software Engineering Technical Delivery, and Software Engineering Management
  • Demonstrated experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume systems and components and in organizations practicing Agile best practices
  • Budget and Forecast Management
  • Executive Written & Verbal Communication Skills
  • A comfort with public speaking, delivering engaging and informative presentations and the ability to adapt to different audiences and event types (ie: executives, technical individuals, and forums/communities both internal and external)
  • Proven experience in a senior enterprise architecture role within a large, complex organization, preferably a Fortune 100 company.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and align IT initiatives with long-term business goals.
  • Deep understanding of how to document and map business capabilities and their technological underpinnings. Experience with TOGAF and ArchiMate strongly desired.
  • Experience leading and developing a team of senior architects.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in assessing security risks and managing technical debt.
  • Expertise in developing and governing technology standards, roadmaps, and heatmaps.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior business and IT leaders.
  • Familiarity with hybrid organizational structures involving centralized and decentralized teams.
  • A strong understanding of the roles of Solution Architecture and Platform Engineering and how to foster effective interaction between them.
Education
  • Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Orlando, Florida is $175,000-$210,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
