Overview

The AdventHealth Transplant Institute in Orlando, Florida, is recruiting a Board Certified/Board Eligible, ASTS fellowship-trained Multi-Organ Abdominal Transplant Surgeon to join its established and expanding transplant program. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of post-fellowship clinical experience, strong technical proficiency in multi-organ transplantation, and a commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and programmatic growth. 

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery
  • Completion of an ASTS-accredited Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship
  • Eligibility for Florida medical licensure
Job Requirements

Clinical Responsibilities

The successful candidate will participate in:

  • Adult kidney, liver, and pancreas transplantation
  • Deceased donor procurement and organ recovery
  • Machine perfusion and organ preservation management
  • Inpatient and outpatient pre- and post-transplant patient care
  • Participation in quality, regulatory, and program development initiatives

Additional expertise in the following areas is desirable but not required:

  • Living donor kidney and/or liver procurement and donor management
  • Minimally invasive or robotic surgical techniques
  • Pediatric transplant experience
  • Clinical research and academic collaboration

Program Overview

The AdventHealth Transplant Institute currently performs annually:

  • 100+ adult and pediatric liver transplants
  • 150+ adult and pediatric kidney transplants
  • 15+ pancreas transplants

The surgical team includes five transplant surgeons supported by a fully integrated multidisciplinary team of transplant nephrologists, hepatologists, intensivists, oncologists, pathologists, and advanced practice providers. The program maintains a strong referral base and continues to demonstrate sustained growth across all organ systems.

Practice Description

This is an employment opportunity that includes the benefits of call coverage and competitive compensation. Other benefits include occurrence-based malpractice coverage, paid leave days, CME days and allowance, 403b retirement plan, health insurance for physician and family, and relocation allowance.  This aligned model and practice management experience provides the opportunity for the physicians to focus on the clinical aspects of medicine.

Hospital Description

AdventHealth Orlando is a 1,300-bed quaternary care center with comprehensive transplant infrastructure, including:

  • An integrated, hospital-based organ procurement organization (OurLegacy)
  • An on-site HLA laboratory
  • Dedicated transplant and VAD patient housing facilities

The institution is undergoing significant expansion, including construction of a new $650+ million inpatient tower, further enhancing transplant capacity and clinical resources.
