About the Role & the Team:

Just imagine how great it would be to use your skills to help people in a healthcare environment.By joining the Health Services team, you will work alongside a dedicated team of medical professionals responsible for the direct delivery of occupationally related patient care to Cast Members at the Walt Disney World Resort. Your role in the show will be to support all efforts associated with medial administration, tracking and use of a custom electronic medical record. The work environment is a fast-paced Occupational Health Clinic Environment with nurses, physicians, and medical assistants who work in a close, collaborative style.

If you have worked in a medical office or hospital or even a corporate office environment, most of your responsibilities will be familiar to you - think things like working in a shared mailbox, data uploads, interface with patients arriving for care, facilitation of timely service and creation of encounters in an electronic medical record [EMR] system.In this role, you will make sure the highest standards of quality and confidentiality are met at all times and will be as precise with your documentation as you are with everything else in your life.Each day you are scheduled to work, you will be the primary resource for the completion of daily tasks associated with administration of the front desk function, as well as patient discharge.

What You Will Do/Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Review Provider schedules and prepare for patient visits. This may include follow-up on all prior testing and results to expedite physician review and streamline patient flow

  • Assist Provider for Initial Exams, Re-check Appointments, Medical Surveillance/Regulatory Compliance exams

  • Call patient back into exam room, perform intake processes and prep patient for physician exam (including conducting preliminary medical tests- Snellen Eye tests, grip strength measurements, range of motion studies)

  • Assist Provider with medical exams

  • Fulfill Patient Care Orders in the clinic. Examples include:

  • Ace wrap, dressing changes, ice packs, fitting ortho supports

  • Assist with surgical procedures such as laceration repairs, incision and drainage, burn treatment, etc.

  • Perform phlebotomy

  • Perform EHGs and Pulmonary Function Screening

  • Fulfill medication and injection orders

  • Assist in coordinating outside referrals for diagnostics, treatments, and specialist providers

  • Request medical records

  • Provide patient education and instructions

  • Provide restriction and accommodation documentation

  • Complete all documentation and quality checks

Additional Duties Include:
  • Handle large volume of incoming calls and inquiries - triaging as appropriate

  • Handle large volume data input into standardized templates and/or creation of excel spreadsheets

  • Administer patient satisfaction surveys via an electronic iPad (as needed)

  • Support routine medical facility needs such as ordering, stocking, cataloging, and delivery of supplies across property (as needed)

  • Provide communication support by answering questions or directing callers appropriately

  • Schedule clinic appointments

  • Monitor incoming messages and voicemail and provide timely responses to inquiries

  • Review and evaluate medical documentation submitted via walk-in to ensure completeness; ensure proper scanning and indexing of all incoming medical notes and medical documentation received

  • Use critical judgment skills to escalate matters of priority

  • Update management on patient thru-put, wait times, emergent needs, and issue resolution

  • Interface with patients in a timely, respectful manner

  • Ensure questions are appropriately addressed and responses rendered to inquiries regarding next steps in care treatment

  • Interface with external medical providers regarding referrals for diagnostic examination; Specialist, therapeutic and rehabilitative treatment

  • Document outcome(s) in electronic medical record system

Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Program Suite

  • Valid and unrestricted Florida Driver's License

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical office or corporate environment

  • The physical demands and working conditions require frequent walking, standing, squatting, sitting and lifting (less than 25 lbs.) throughout the shift

  • Occasional stooping and bending; and frequent fine fingering/handling/reaching (side, overhead, low)

  • A Medical Assistant needs physical strength and ability to kneel/squat to complete emergency procedures such as CPR

Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • Current and valid Certificate from approved program in Medical Assistant training program

  • Current and valid CPR Certification

Preferred Education:
  • Four-year college degree

  • Two years experience in healthcare or health-related field

  • Understanding of Medical Terminology

  • Bilingual in a language other than English, i.e., Spanish, Creole, etc.

  • Experience with Microsoft office suite including excel
