Description


The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for executing daily inventory control activities to ensure accurate inventory records, timely discrepancy resolution, and compliance with company procedures across multiple branch and manufacturing locations nationwide. This role supports both branch and manufacturing operations by maintaining inventory accuracy, researching variances, supporting audits, and ensuring inventory transactions are completed accurately and on time.

This is a detail-oriented, process-driven position that requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining accurate inventory records while supporting operational efficiency across the organization.


 Responsibilities

  • Review, reconcile, and post daily cycle counts in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct routine inventory audits and spot checks to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with physical inventories, recounts, and inventory verification activities.
  • Investigate, document, and track inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and variances.
  • Research routine inventory issues and escalate complex discrepancies as appropriate.
  • Submit, monitor, and follow up on truck discrepancies within required timelines.
  • Support branch and manufacturing locations with inventory-related questions, issues, and operational needs.
  • Ensure inventory transactions are processed accurately and completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventory audits, peak operational periods, and special projects as needed.
  • Follow established inventory control procedures, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, inventory controls, and operational guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with branch personnel, manufacturing teams, and internal departments regarding inventory issues and updates.
  • Respond to emails, requests, and ticketing system inquiries within established service level expectations.
  • Travel to branch locations as needed to provide inventory support, training, audits, and operational assistance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  •   High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, manufacturing, logistics, or operational support required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and follow established processes and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Experience with inventory management systems, ERP platforms, or warehouse management systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting audits, physical inventory counts, and inventory reconciliation activities preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi-location environments preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25%-35% to support branch and operational needs.
