Job description

DIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION
Our Lady on the River Parish and Holy Cross School in Marine City, Michigan, is seeking a passionate and committed
Director of Faith Formation to lead and grow the parish faith formation efforts. This individual will be a practicing
Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings, proven leadership abilities, and a desire to nurture discipleship
among all parishioners.
The Director of Faith Formation works collaboratively with the parish and school leadership, especially the pastor, to
cultivate a vibrant culture of faith and evangelization through formation programs for children, youth, and adults.
Qualifications include:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and committed to the mission of evangelization.
- Bachelor's degree in theology, religious studies, pastoral ministry, education, or a related field. Master's degree
preferred.
- Certification in catechetical leadership or diocesan formation programs
- Strong knowledge of Catholic theology, doctrine, and parish life.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and program management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, parish and school staff, volunteers, and families.
- Experience in catechetical ministry, education, parish ministry, or a relate field preferred.
- Knowledge of safe-environment policies and child protection requirements
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement, and oversee parish faith formation programs, including:
o Adult Faith Formation
o Youth and Family Faith Formation (including Totus Tuus)
o Sacramental Preparation
o Order of Christian initiation of Adults (OCIA)
o Collaboration with the parish school on faith formation initiatives
o Function as the parish-wide Safe-Environments coordinator
- Recruit, train, support, and evaluate catechists, volunteers, and program staff.
- Ensure that all faith formation curricula and programs are aligned with Catholic doctrine and the requirements of
the Archdiocese of Detroit.
- Collaborate with clergy, parish staff, school administration, and volunteers to promote and strengthen faith
formation opportunities throughout the parish community.
- Plan and coordinate sacramental preparation programs, retreats, special events, and other formation activities.
- Maintain accurate records related to enrollment, attendance, sacramental preparation, and program outcomes.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, resources, and program materials in coordination with the parish
bookkeeper.

Accountability and Evaluation:
This position:
- Reports directly to the Pastor and serves as a member of the parish staff.
- Develops annual ministry goals in collaboration with the Pastor.
- Seeks parent feedback to improve communication and program effectiveness.
- Participates in an annual performance review with the Pastor.
