Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator with 12+ years of database administration experience to Migrate and support mission-critical database environments across on-premises and AWS cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery, high availability, automation, and migration of PostgreSQL databases.
This role requires deep expertise in PostgreSQL database administration along with strong hands-on experience in AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), AWS CLI automation, monitoring, and large-scale database migration initiatives, including Oracle to AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL ,sqlserver to AWS RDS/Aurora PostgresSQL and On-Premises PostgreSQL to AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL.
The successful candidate will work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, cloud architects, and project stakeholders to ensure highly available, secure, and performant database environments.
 
Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (AWS Cloud & Migration Specialist)
PostgreSQL Administration & AWS Cloud Experience
Extensive experience installing, configuring, upgrading, patching, and maintaining PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.
Proven experience monitoring database performance, availability, capacity, and storage utilization to ensure optimal system health.
Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
Experience managing database security, user roles, permissions, access controls, encryption, and compliance requirements.
Skilled in troubleshooting database issues, performing root cause analysis, and resolving production incidents.

Execute failover, switchover, and recovery activities with minimal downtime.
Design and support highly available PostgreSQL architectures across on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
AWS Database Administration Experience,Migration, Monitoring & Automation Experience
Hands-on experience administering Amazon RDS PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and EC2-hosted PostgreSQL environments.
Experience provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud database infrastructure within AWS.
Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance using AWS-native monitoring tools.
Implement database security controls, encryption, auditing, and compliance best practices.
Experience managing AWS database backups, maintenance activities, upgrades, and patching.
Strong understanding of AWS architecture, networking, IAM, KMS, and cloud operational best practices
Extensive experience with AWS database administration, migration, monitoring, and automation across enterprise PostgreSQL environments.
Hands-on experience utilizing AWS Lambda, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon SNS, AWS Systems Manager, and AWS CLI to implement automated database management solutions.
Experience developing automated database health checks, proactive monitoring, and custom alerting solutions to improve database uptime and operational efficiency.
Strong background in automating routine DBA tasks, operational processes, and infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and AWS-native services.
Experience integrating monitoring, notification, and reporting platforms to provide real-time visibility into database performance and availability.
Create and maintain operational dashboards, performance reports, and key metrics for database operations and service health.
Experience in handling complex PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server migration projects across on-premises and cloud environments.
Experience migrating On-Premises PostgreSQL databases to Amazon RDS PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
Perform Oracle-to-PostgreSQL assessments, schema conversions, compatibility analysis, and performance optimization.
Support PostgreSQL version upgrades, platform migrations, and cloud modernization initiatives.
Extensive experience using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS), AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT), and native database migration utilities.
Execute end-to-end migration activities including assessment, planning, testing, cutover, validation, and post-migration support.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
12+ years of Database Administration experience.
8+ years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience.
5+ years of AWS & Azuew cloud database administration experience.
Strong experience managing mission-critical production databases.
Proven experience with PostgreSQL upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
AWS Certified Database Specialty.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate/Professional.
PostgreSQL Professional Certification.
Experience with Enterprise Monitoring tools.
Experience supporting large-scale utility, financial or regulated environments.
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized PostgreSQL environments.
Experience with pgBouncer, Pgpool-II, Patroni, or similar PostgreSQL HA solutions.
