Research Faculty Opportunity - Human Genetics (Assistant/Associate Professor)
The Division of Human Genetics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is recruiting a Research Faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on the tenure track, with an expected effort of 90% research and 10% administrative service.
The successful candidate will be dedicated to advancing precision medicine and targeted genetic therapies for rare diseases within the rapidly evolving field of interventional genetics. The candidate will contribute to the expansion of the division's rare disease research programs, with particular strengths in lysosomal storage diseases, rasopathies, and skeletal dysplasias, and growing emphasis on neurodevelopmental disorders. The position offers extensive collaborative opportunities with the Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center, the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network, and multidisciplinary rare disease research programs and clinics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, as well as participation in national initiatives such as the Undiagnosed Diseases Network and the National Organization for Rare Disorders.
The Division of Human Genetics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides comprehensive genetic evaluation, counseling, testing, and medical management for patients of all ages with a broad range of genetic conditions, including cleft lip and palate, hereditary cancer syndromes, and metabolic disorders. Research in the division spans basic discovery through translation of new diagnoses and therapies into clinical care, with a shared mission to improve the health of children and families.
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in pediatric healthcare, known for excellence in patient care, research, and medical education. U.S. News & World Report ranked Cincinnati Children's among the nation's top ten pediatric hospitals in the 2024-2025 edition of America's Best Children's Hospitals. JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Service and/or Administration: - Lead the integration of existing programs and development & growth of a major initiative of the assigned department and/or program. Lead program development for service and/or administration as evidenced by contributions including: leadership role in the development of innovative programs for research and/or patient care of educational purposes; significant leadership role in the direction of an academic division; leadership role in the medical center or university; leadership role in regional & national professional societies, program committees and governing boards. Lead the development of departmental policies, procedures & standards. Serve as a role model of effective interpersonal & intrapersonal relationships & encourage team concepts. Develop & guide the implementation of long & short term goals & objectives & ensure that they are aligned to the Division & medical center strategic objectives. Serve in a leadership role in the Institute or medical center. Participate as a member of the leadership team in developing consensus in the various programs, approaches, issues & new initiatives within the Department.
Scholarly Activity: - Demonstrates on-going commitment to and participates in scholarly activities at an advanced level as evidenced by: publication of original research investigation, educational research, clinical observations, reviews, chapters or books; leadership role in research trials, and/or research investigations; membership on editorial boards or editorship of textbooks or journals. Applies advanced training in research methods to design and conduct clinical research on various areas of clinical specialty. Develop research programs in area of clinical specialty. Demonstrate effectiveness in securing grant funding of research initiatives and programs mentors and assist other faculty in grantsmanship. Develop and growth of new externally funded research initiatives. Develop a program that receives extramural support in the form of major grants from the National Institutes of Health or other sources.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
PhD degree in a related scientific or research field
3+ years related experience in research field researchand/or Lab experience assisting with the preparation of data for presentation at scientific meetings.
